Full-time hybrid appointment
Based in Reach, CB25 0JD (10 miles from Cambridge. Four miles from Newmarket).
Salary: £30k per annum (£15k for part time appointment)
Asempa Ltd publishes a long-established newsletter called Africa Confidential . We publish both online and in print. We pride ourselves on being the leading source of contemporary analysis on political, economic and security events and challenges in continental Africa.
We seek a well-organised and outgoing appointee who can help us grow the subscriber base by working effectively alongside the Subscriptions Manager and the Sales and Marketing Manager. You’ll also be trained to cover for them when either of them is on holiday. The key role is one of identifying prospects, communicating effectively with them by email, and then talking with those who have shown interest. And for clarity, this is not a cold-call sales job.
We use the range of Microsoft Office software plus Filemaker Pro for our main database, and schedule our social media output using Hootsuite. It isn’t particularly complicated but clearly the more conversant you are with IT the better.
In summary, we seek an organised all-rounder with reasonable IT skills and a positive outlook. Knowledge of Africa is an asset, but not a requirement.
We are very flexible in structuring your working week. We all work from home on Friday’s, but other working from home times can be negotiated whether regularly or when a particular need arises. It’s important we all meet up reasonably often to spark new ideas or confirm tasks completed etc, but it doesn’t have to be all the time. Holiday entitlement per calendar year will be 25 days plus Bank holidays. We have a statutory contributory pension scheme.
In the first instance, please email explaining why you think you can be the person we are looking for. Please include detail of when you would be able to commence employment if selected.
