Working as part of a team providing expertise and delivering solutions on a wide range of complex storm water issues using green infrastructure and sustainable drainage practices.
As an Assistant Engineer you will play an important role within the Blue Green Infrastructure team and will have the opportunity to play a part in its ongoing development. The team comprises a mix of engineers with a wide range of industry experience, and services projects across the full spectrum of WSP's client base.
You could find yourself supporting the team in:
+ Public realm improvement schemes & SuDS retrofit
+ Reviewing engineering designs for urban drainage projects
+ Working on high-profile projects, including HS2, Smart Motorways
+ Helping local authorities to prevent flooding to homes and businesses
+ Developing fee proposals and winning work
+ Ensuring the team remains highly skilled, engaged, and motivated to deliver
You can expect to:
+ Provide technical input on sustainable drainage projects
+ Support the development of engineering solutions, from feasibility studies to detailed design and construction
+ Support the preparation of reports and supporting drawings, specifications and schedules
+ Work alongside more senior engineers to aid your development
+ Contribute to the learning of the wider team through knowledge sharing exercises
+ Promote the WSP brand through appropriate industry forums and conferences
**What we will be looking for you to demonstrate.**
+ A degree, or equivalent, in a relevant discipline (e.g. civil or environmental engineering, construction, environmental science, geography)
+ Some knowledge of sustainable drainage
+ Understanding of hydraulic modelling, using industry-standard software (e.g. InfoWorks, FLOW)
+ Experience with AutoCAD
+ Familiarity with any industry-standard geographical information systems (e.g. ArcGIS, QGIS, MapInfo)
