We are looking for a hardworking Java Developer to join our Tick History Development scrum team in Nottingham, as we strive to deliver precision to our customers. The successful candidate will be working on delivering new functionalities for the LSEG Tick History product.
The Tick History product offers nearly 30 years of real-time pricing data, covering every trade, quote and asset class from over 500 global exchanges and contributors. It is used by companies throughout the world, from quants trying to uncover new opportunities, to a trader pursuing strategies for alpha and best execution, or a risk manager aiming to streamline compliance.
Main Responsibilities / Accountabilities:
- You will engage with product owners, architects and other specialists to understand business and technical requirements.
- You will translate business and technical requirements into detailed design specifications for application code and modules.
- You will provide design recommendations, developing and integrating programs per written specifications.
- You will build and maintain efficient, reusable, reliable and secure code based on Agile user stories.
- Working within a multi-functional agile team, you will develop enterprise software, adhering to company standards and established software methodology.
- To help the teams develop and learn, you will review work of peers and more junior developers, providing advice and guidance to benefit the team as a whole.
- Actively participating in Scrum meetings, you will give timely status updates on areas for which you are responsible.
- You will participate in researching new and emerging Time Series technologies, working with vendors to understand and evaluate new tools and technologies.
- Create trust and credibility with partners, working closely with them to resolve issues, and proactively identify improvements that will increase reliability, optimize processes, and balance risk/reward.
Essential Skills/ Experience Required:
- Proven experience working in software development
- Knowledge of Distributed System Design and Implementation
- Experienced software engineer with excellent knowledge of Java
- Experience in Cloud technologies, e.g. AWS, Azure.
- Good knowledge of Linux, it's development environments and tools
- Have experience in object-oriented methodologies, design patterns
- Understanding of Big Data technologies such as Hadoop, Spark
- Understanding of security implications and secure coding
- Proven grasp of software development lifecycle best-practices, agile methods, and conventions, including Source Code Management, Continuous Integration
- Practical experience with agile development methodologies and tools (Scrum, JIRA etc.)
- Skills for writing clean, readable code and reusable components
- Experience with Test Driven Development and / or Behaviour Driven Development

- Design, implement, test, and roll out new medical services at scale.
- Maintain, enhance, and optimise existing services to reflect clinical breakthroughs, regulatory changes, and new medicines.
- Collaborate with stakeholders to ensure solutions meet business and clinical needs.
Who are we looking for?
- Previous development experience with Java 1.8+, Spring Boot and MySQL.
- Familiarity in microservice architecture.
- An understanding of DevOps CI/CD methodologies, working with Docker, Kubernetes, GitHub Actions, etc.
- Experience with cloud environments such as GCP, AWS or Azure.
- Knowledge of software Development best practice such as SOLID, ACID and OO design principles
- Commercially aware with excellent stakeholder management skills.
- A true team player who shares ideas and contributes to team dynamics.
- Able to ask insightful questions and negotiate compromises to meet business goals.
