We're seeking an R&D Scientist to join our Research & Development team, focusing on the creation and testing of innovative conformal coatings in the Reading area. You'll work closely with colleagues in the UK and USA, plus Quality, Production, Technical Support, and Sales teams, to develop new products and improve manufacturing processes.
The R&D Scientist will ideally have the following attributes:
- BSc in Chemistry or Material Science desirable
- 2+ years work based experience in similar environment
- Experience with coatings, adhesives, paints, or other advanced chemical products (preferred)
- Knowledge of lab test methods/instruments (Viscosity, Rheology, FTIR advantageous)
- Strong attention to detail and an organised, methodical approach
- Ability to work well in a project team environment
The R&D Scientist role will involve:
- Develop and test new coating formulations
- Assess new raw materials for suitability
- Operate automated coating equipment for trials and testing
- Support process scale-up and cost-reduction projects
- Assist Technical Support with customer queries
- Contribute to QA processes and prepare technical reports
- Visit customer sites for product trials
