Our client, a prominent organisation within the nuclear industry, is seeking a skilled AutoCAD Operator to join their team at Heysham. In this role, you will play a vital part in supporting engineering by reviewing, amending, and distributing technical drawings. You will also be responsible for updating and managing hard copy documentation across the station, while fostering strong working relationships within the team.
Applicants should be able to demonstrate the following skills/experience:
* Proficient in 2D AutoCAD with experience in producing and editing technical drawings with some understanding of industry-standard drawing conventions.
* IT Literate with confidence in using Microsoft Office applications including Word, Excel, Outlook, and Teams.
* Skilled in creating and interpreting spreadsheets for effective data tracking and management.
* A proactive and self-motivated work ethic, performing tasks thoroughly and diligently.
* The ability to manage multiple tasks, prioritise effectively, and consistently meet deadlines.
* Clear and professional communicator, both verbally and in writing, with a collaborative approach to working across departments.
* Adaptable and quick to learn new software and systems.
* Confident working independently or as part of a team.
Role information:
* Produce and revise station drawings in line with engineers' specifications and requirements to support the implementation of plant modifications.
* Oversee the distribution of hard copy drawings across the station, conduct regular audits and maintain accurate records.
* Digitally enhance historic technical drawings to improve legibility and clarity, ensuring they are easily interpretable by engineering and project teams.
* Support station teams by locating and retrieving historic drawings, uploading and managing drawings within the digital database.
* Utilise internal data management systems.

Bridge (AutoCAD) Engineering Technician
About the role
As an experienced bridge engineering technician, you will play a key part in the successful delivery of our bridge and multidisciplinary infrastructure projects. You will collaborate closely with colleagues across our UK and Ireland offices and be supported by a team of highly skilled professionals.
Main duties and responsibilities
- Producing accurate engineering models, drawings and detailing for bridges, retaining walls, culverts, and related civil structures
- Preparing both concept and detailed design drawings
- Acting as project technician on multidisciplinary schemes
- Reviewing steel fabrication and shop drawings
- Ensuring the timely delivery of high-quality engineering outputs
- Providing technical guidance and mentoring to junior team members
Recent and ongoing projects
My clients portfolio demonstrates both the scale and diversity of our work. Essential requirements
- HNC (or equivalent) in civil engineering and/or EngTech or IEng accreditation with ICE or IStructE
- At least 4+ years experience in drafting and modelling bridges and civil structures
- Strong proficiency in AutoCAD, CADS-RC and steel detailing software
- Excellent command of written and spoken English
- Highly motivated, adaptable and detail focused
- Ability to work effectively under pressure and deliver to tight deadlines
- Strong teamwork ethic and willingness to take responsibility
Desirable
- 3D modelling experience using AutoCAD or other software
- Familiarity with Civil 3D, Revit, Navisworks or similar design tools
