Our client, a pioneering pharmaceutical company at the forefront of therapeutic innovation, is seeking a highly accomplished Principal Scientist, Drug Discovery to join their world-class research team. This is a critical, fully remote role that will significantly contribute to the advancement of novel drug candidates from early discovery through to pre-clinical development. You will leverage your extensive expertise in medicinal chemistry, pharmacology, or a related discipline to design and execute complex research programs, mentor junior scientists, and drive scientific strategy. The ideal candidate will possess a deep understanding of the drug discovery process, a strong publication record, and a passion for scientific excellence.

- Design and lead innovative drug discovery projects aimed at identifying and optimising novel therapeutic agents.
- Develop and implement cutting-edge experimental strategies and methodologies.
- Expertly analyse complex biological and chemical data, drawing insightful conclusions.
- Collaborate effectively with internal cross-functional teams (e.g., biology, DMPK, toxicology) and external partners.
- Mentor and guide junior scientists, fostering a collaborative and high-performing research environment.
- Contribute to the development of scientific strategy and pipeline planning.
- Author high-quality manuscripts for peer-reviewed publications and present findings at scientific conferences.
- Ensure compliance with all relevant ethical, safety, and regulatory guidelines.
- Manage project timelines, resources, and budgets effectively.
- Stay abreast of the latest scientific advancements and technological innovations in drug discovery.
- PhD in Medicinal Chemistry, Pharmacology, Biochemistry, or a closely related field.
- A minimum of 8-10 years of progressive experience in drug discovery within the pharmaceutical or biotechnology industry.
- Demonstrated success in leading drug discovery projects and delivering candidate molecules.
- Strong expertise in one or more therapeutic areas and relevant disease biology.
- Excellent understanding of ADMET properties and their optimisation.
- Proficiency with relevant scientific software and data analysis tools.
- Exceptional problem-solving, critical thinking, and strategic planning skills.
- Outstanding written and verbal communication skills, with a proven ability to publish and present research.
- Demonstrated leadership and mentorship capabilities.
- Ability to work independently and collaboratively in a fully remote setting, demonstrating excellent self-management.
