Aviation Recruitment experts Optime are excited to be recruiting Airside Driver for a prestigious client at Gatwick Airport. All positions offer full-time hours, overtime opportunities and an immediate start!
This role plays a vital part in ensuring the efficient and compliant movement of personnel, materials, and equipment across active airside construction zones. You’ll be working at the heart of one of the UK’s busiest airports, contributing to projects that shape the future of Gatwick’s infrastructure and passenger experience.
PLEASE NOTE: This role requires a Full D1 UK Driving License and at least 3 years residency in the UK. 
What’s on offer:  
- Rate of Pay: £17.53 per hour
- All employees will need to be able to work on a shift rotation.
- Shift timings: Earliest start time: 04:30am, Latest finish time: 00:00am
- Weekly Pay (every Friday)
- Full training provided
- Immediate Start!
- Temp to Perm (performance-based)
Key Duties:  
- Operate a range of airside vehicles to transport materials, equipment, and personnel safely and efficiently within the construction zones.
- Ensure full compliance with Gatwick Airport’s airside driving policies, construction site safety standards, and CAA regulations.
- Conduct daily vehicle inspections and maintain accurate vehicle records and logs.
- Adhere to security protocols, including ID and vehicle permit checks, ensuring all movements are authorised and documented.
- Communicate effectively with site supervisors, contractors, and airport operations to ensure coordinated vehicle movements.
- Support the delivery and collection of construction materials between landside and airside zones as required.
- Maintain a strong awareness of hazards in a live airfield environment, acting promptly to mitigate risks.
- Participate in regular safety briefings, toolbox talks, and operational updates.
Requirements:  
- Full UK Manual Driving Licence with Category D1 entitlement (must be valid and in good standing).
- Ability to pass Gatwick Airport Airside Driving Assessment and obtain a full airside driving permit .
- Strong understanding of vehicle safety, load securing, and manual handling procedures.
- Proven track record of safe driving in high-pressure or safety-critical environments.
- Prior experience in airside, construction, or logistics operations . (Desired)
- Valid Passport or Driving Licence /Birth Certificate or National ID card
- UK Settled Status (If applicable)
- Proof of National Insurance
- Proof of (current) Address
- 5 Year Address History
- 5 Year Work Reference History
- Successful candidates will be required to complete a basic criminal record check following interview in line with CAA requirements.
- Previous airport and/or cleaning experience would be beneficial

Key Duties:

- Maintain regular contact with the warehouse management team.
- Count and check all products, compare to manifest and complete a visual check for damage.

- Complete routine vehicle checks and ops 13 paperwork.

The Airport is operational 7 days per week and candidates will be working on a 4 on 4 off rolling rota. This could be subject to change!
