The role:
Working as part of a 24/7 operational team, you'll play a vital role in monitoring vessel routes, supporting clients, and ensuring maritime safety. This is a shift-based role (4 days on, 4 days off, 9am-9pm), averaging 40-42 hours per week.
You'll be responsible for:
Providing captains with timely and accurate security updates
Responding to client queries via phone and email
Monitoring vessel movements for safety and compliance
Issuing real-time maritime security incident alerts
Creating detailed Route Risk Reports
Accurately logging data and supporting day-to-day operations
What we're looking for:
Experience in a control room, emergency response or shift-based operations
Maritime experience is desirable but not essential
Strong IT skills, including Microsoft Office
High attention to detail and confident communication
Ability to retain and relay critical information quickly and accurately

The Role
The Operations Officers make up the core of flight operations team and are essential to the smooth and efficient running of the operations department. From providing excellent customer service through to booking in and planning flights, the operations team are required to be flexible and dynamic and must portray a helpful and can-do attitude to our clients, suppliers and internal departments.
Key Responsibilities
- Providing 24/7 cover for all operational directions and queries
- Fully understanding mission requirements and setting up flights as required
- Implementing recovery plans in the event of delays, AOG’s etc
- Accurately complete company flight logs and post flight data
- Effectively contributing to procedures and other documents
- Working collaboratively with colleagues in Commercial and Customer Service teams to solve complex flight problems and find solutions
- Other reasonable work-related requests as directed by the Line Manager.

Role Summary
Responsible for coordinating short-term crewing and supporting flight operations to ensure compliance, efficiency, and schedule integrity. This includes managing crew logistics, monitoring aircraft movements, handling disruptions, maintaining accurate records, and supporting OCC leadership.
Responsibilities
- Coordinate short-term crewing for all operated flights, ensuring compliance with company policy and regulation.
- Manage crew coverage for ad-hoc and disrupted flights, ensuring schedules remain compliant and all travel/accommodation arrangements are handled appropriately.
- Monitor aircraft movements, report schedule deviations, and manage flight plans and ground handling during disruptions.
- Maintain clear communication with OCC staff and keep the Shift Supervisor informed of issues, risks, and proposed solutions.
- Provide thorough shift handovers, highlighting ongoing tasks, risks, and opportunities to maintain schedule integrity.
- Track all personnel on aircraft ensuring all required Border Control requirements are met.
- Ensure training requirements are all operating crew are current, reporting any alerts to the OCC Supervisor and Training Department as required.
- Support crew needs including accommodation, transport, and respond to aircrew enquiries; update crew management systems.
- Perform departmental administration to required standards and timelines, maintaining confidentiality of sensitive information.
- Uphold professional conduct in line with company policy and assist the OCC Supervisor/Manager with daily workload.
Academic/Educational Requirements
- Educated to ‘A’ level or equivalent
Required Skills/Experience/knowledge:
Highly Desirable Experience:
- 2-years recent Aviation Operations experience (Highly Desirable)
- Experience scheduling a workforce to fulfil operational requirements
- Experience using scheduling software in a transport environment.
Essential Skills:
- Effective and proven positive interpersonal skills and a demonstrable ability to work effectively within a team.

We are looking for a skilled, experienced and enthusiastic Operations Officer to work alongside a dedicated staff team to ensure the school is a safe and welcoming environment.
The RoleExcellent communication is key to this role as it involves working with external contractors and teaching and non teaching staff at the school in relation to health and safety, estates and other key operational activities. The role involves keeping up to date with changing legislation and guidance to ensure compliance.
You will be joining a warm, nurturing and vibrant community of staff, parents and children. We work collegiately and the children are at the heart of all decision making at the school.
This role reports into the Business Manager and works closely with the Finance and HR/Admin teams.
Key AccountabilitiesCompliance and Health and Safety
- To support all aspects of York Steiner School H&S and compliance across the entire school.
- To implement North Yorkshire Council’s H&S procedures to be compliant for
- H&S Premises Inspection
- H&S paperwork audit
- Fire Risk Assessment
- To advise and support teachers preparing Risk Assessments from a H&S perspective for school activities.
- To be responsible for keeping up to date with changing legislation and guidance to ensure compliance.
- To be responsible for COSHH Management.
- To create risk assessments and oversee H&S at 2 school fairs. Attendance on the day (includes two working weekends per academic year) is required but there is time off in lieu.
- To manage the asbestos register and legionella reports working with school appointed professionals and the upkeep the paperwork and records.
IT support
- To oversee the IT security software and be the first point of contact for school IT issues with our external provider.
- Data protection (GDPR) and other regulatory requirements.
Line Management, Communication and Training
- Attending training relevant to the role.
- To build good working relationships with the Finance Manager, HR/Admin Manager, and Caretaker.
- Communicate effectively with the Headteacher, SENDCo, teachers, non-teaching staff, students/children and parents.
- Participate and attend staff training days/sessions and school open days.
School trips and medicines
- To oversee medicines and first aid in school and manage, log and act upon accident reporting.
- To be the Lead Educational Visit Coordinator to sign off H&S for school trips, training provided and to liaise with admin support.
External Contractors
- To manage external facilities contracts i.e. print/photocopier, coffee machine.
- Liaison with external contractors for project work.
Fire Safety
- To manage Planned Preventative Maintenance (PPM) in a timely manner.
- To be Lead fire Marshall within school, coordination of fire marshals and schedule training.
- To be responsible for carrying out weekly testing and termly fire evacuation drills.
Additional Responsibilities
- Comply with all school policies and procedures, especially safeguarding, health & safety and IT policy.
- Lead on sustainability, energy efficiency and resource management initiative to develop a school-wide sustainability action plan (DfE requirement coming in 2025).
- Ensure the school site, facilities and equipment are safe, well maintained, and fit for purpose.
- Maintain and review school operational policies (H&S, trips, GDPR, fire safety, estates policies).
- Prepare compliance reports for governors / trustees via the business manager.
- Oversee site security, access control, keys/fobs.
- Coordinate with contractors for out-of-hours access.
Statutory Requirements
- Responsibility for electronic record keeping to meet both statutory and school requirements e.g. school management systems and safeguarding systems.
- Follow the staff code of conduct when interacting with children.
