Key Responsibilities

  • Support Make UK's political engagement across a wide range of policy areas, developing and delivering targeted contact programmes with senior politicians.

  • Draft speeches and briefing materials for Make UK's senior leadership, including the CEO.

A Typical Day
The Head of Government Affairs and Public Policy Campaigns (NEMEA), is responsible for developing and executing fully integrated policy strategic engagement plans in the region and leading the local team, under the direction of the Director of Public Policy and Campaigns, EMEA. Your Expertise

  • At least 15 years experience working with complex political or regulatory issues in relevant business or non-governmental organisation, or in a political, governmental or regulatory context. Ideally, this experience has been built in travel, urbanism or technology.
  • Ability to navigate a complex political or regulatory environment. Advanced knowledge of the political landscape and legislative processes in the UK, the EU and Middle East Africa, is essential.

We are excited to announce an opportunity for an EU Government and Public Affairs Manager.

The EU Government and Public Affairs Manager, based in Brussels, is responsible for supporting our advocacy efforts with the European Union (EU) institutions. The primary policy focus will be EU electrification policies and regulation. Additional policy responsibilities will include: connected and autonomous vehicles, consumer policy, tax and insurance issues.

This position includes analysis of proposed and forthcoming legislative actions to assist the Assistant Vice President of European Government & Public Affairs and the business in assessing the potential impact on the organization, developing appropriate positions and strategies, and implementing them. This position supports all EU advocacy efforts through the prioritisation, planning and preparation of outreach activities whether as Enterprise Mobility or through our sectoral and horizontal business associations, as well as ensuring consistent follow-up to engagements.

The EU Government and Public Affairs Manager is a key member of our Brussels-based team and shall work closely with our Government and Public Affairs teams in our European Corporate Markets, and selected partner markets, to maximise the value of the Brussels-national capital-Brussels engagement programme. Responsibilities

About the role

This newly created role will help lead the Commissions strategic intelligence function focusing on threats to democracy and digital transparency. The Senior Analyst will drive innovation, exploring AI applications to shape new regulatory approaches and streamline processes.

You will be responsible for:

  • Leading the collection, examination and dissemination of intelligence relating to identified threats to the democratic system, proactively identifying risks that may require the Commission to intervene
  • Contributing and leading the interpretation of data, presenting accurate and high-quality insight reports
  • Engage with external stakeholders to identify areas of joint work while supporting internal analysts in the efficient delivery of the Commission's monitoring and intelligence function

About the team

The Regulatory Action team is expanding to support the Commissions corporate plan. The team is dynamic, hybrid and committed to regulatory excellence. The team monitors campaigning and other activities by political parties and campaigners where it relates to political finance. The new Senior Analyst will play a key part in the team's regulatory work by leading innovation projects and developing new intelligence capabilities.

We are seeking a part-time (0.5 FTE) Post-Doctoral Research Associate to join the Aston Institute for Health & Neurodevelopment (IHN) and contribute to a Cerebra-funded project focused on delivering and evaluating a novel anxiety intervention for autistic children with rare genetic syndromes and moderate to severe intellectual disabilities. You will:

  • Provide project oversight, supporting the PhD student and research team in delivering and evaluating the intervention
  • Lead aspects of project management, including monitoring milestones, supporting ethics and governance processes, and liaising with project partners
  • Contribute to narrative and systematic literature reviews
  • Support data interpretation, dissemination of findings (e.g., co-authoring publications, attending conferences), and knowledge exchange with external stakeholders such as syndrome support organisations
  • Actively contribute to the wider strategic goals of the Cerebra Network for Neurodevelopmental Disorders - including collaborative research initiatives and network-wide outputs - and support the development of future grant applications and research opportunities aligned with the Network's aims
  • Work with NHS partners to evaluate the impact of ongoing Network work integrated into services
  • Attend meetings and dissemination events with project partners at various locations in the UK as required.

We are seeking an enthusiastic, dynamic and ambitious postdoctoral Research Associate to join the group of Dr Adam Wilkinson. The Wilkinson Group has recently relocated from the University of Oxford to the University of Cambridge's Department of Haematology and Cambridge Stem Cell Institute where the postholder holder will be based. Our group's research focusses on expanding and manipulating haematopoietic stem cells (HSCs) ex vivo. We have pioneered highly influential new methods to expand transplantable HSCs long-term ex vivo (Wilkinson et al, Nature, 2019; Igarashi et al, Blood Advances, 2023; Sakurai et al, Nature, 2023; Bozhilov et al., bioRxiv 2024) which are now in use worldwide. Our group has significant funding from the Wellcome Trust and Krishnan-Ang Foundation.

The postholder will lead a project related to the molecular mechanisms regulating HSC expansion and differentiation. Your research will employ ex vivo HSC expansion techniques developed in the Wilkinson Lab in combination with CRISPR-based gene editing, genetic and small molecule screening, and a range of molecular and single cell assays.

You will have a PhD in a relevant discipline and at least one first author primary research paper relevant to this post. You will have extensive knowledge of HSC biology and experience with relevant ex vivo cellular and in vivo functional assays, and molecular and single cell assays. You will have strong communications and organisational skills and the ability to work independently as well as part of a team.
