Job Summary:
Aviation Safety Management seeks to proactively mitigate safety risks before they result in aviation accidents
and incidents. Although seats are rarely the cause of aircraft accidents, they play a critical part in the
survivability, and therefore the severity outcome of aircraft accidents and incidents. In addition, negative
publicity resulting from the poor safety performance of a company's aviation products, can have a profound
impact on the business viability.
Therefore, SGB Safety Management System Safety Officer/Reporting Manager:
- Is a strong communicator and promoter of Aviation Safety;
- Is constantly on the lookout trying find potential SGB product safety hazards, and
- Acts effectively in reporting the related safety risks to management so that safety risks can be
proactively mitigated and/or addressed.

Thus, ensuring that accidents and incidents of SGB products in operation with our airline customers are
avoided and/or the severity of accidents are minimised.
Aviation Safety Management is part of SMS - Safety Management System. SMS is a new ICAO Annex 19
requirement to be implemented by the National Authorities (UK.CAA, EASA, etc.). Dedicated aviation safety
resources are needed for the implementation of the SMS across Safran Seats and Safran Seats GB,
especially, but not limited to: Design, Production and Maintenance regulations.
They will be the main support of the SST SMS Safety Manager (SST Governance & Part 21 Design &
Production) and/or the Compliance Monitoring & Safety Manager (P145 - Maintenance)
Ensure, for Safran Seats GB, the compliance of processes with the SMS referential to:
? Safran Seats and Safran Seats GB repository
? Safran group guidance
? The requirements of One Safran referential
Contributing to the sharing of good practices supporting the points above
Ensures for Safran Seats GB the implementation of SMS training requirements:
? For the Management Staff
? For the Engineering and Technician staff
? For the workforce
**Job Requirements**
Candidate requirements:
Relevant manufacturing/engineering degree is preferred, or HND, BTEC professional Level 5 award or equivalent NVQ Level 5 qualifications in an engineering or science discipline.
Significant experience in a high-volume manufacturing environment, preferably aerospace
Experience of working within quality assurance system compliance or lead auditing role.
Experience in interpreting regulatory, customer and engineering requirements.
Detailed knowledge of and experience in application of the ICAO, IAQG and ISO Standards/regulations (e.g. AS/EN9100 / ISO 9001), IAQG SCMH and Aerospace and defence regulations such as EASA/EMAR/CAA part 21G, 21J and part 145 as applicable (site specific).
Detailed knowledge, of and experience, in the application of safety management principles and practices.
Experience in the use of quality tools and continuous improvement techniques. (PFMEA, SPC, APQP etc.).
Broad operational knowledge and experience in the functions of the organisation and the supporting systems.

+ Sustain a Positive Safety Culture
Lead the management of all Chinook safety occurrence reports and investigations ensuring the quality and completeness of all reports.
+ Perform Safety Investigations in response to the triaging of safety reports.
+ Interface with both internal and external key stakeholders in the processing and managing safety reports and issues.
+ Lead Safety Promotion activities in support of the Programme. Manage the SMS meetings schedule for the Programme ensuring effective audit trail and management of actions and deadlines. Creation and maintenance of SMS documentation relating to the Chinook Programme SMS. Establish and maintain SMS interface with the MoD Air Safety Teams and key Suppliers to the Programme. Delivery of SMS training as required to support compliance with regulation and BDUK procedures.
Travel within the UK is expected and some overseas travel may be required.
**Essential competencies, experience and qualities:**
+ Formal Safety Management Systems training and experience and significant experience in aviation maintenance and/ or engineering.
+ Training in Safety Risk Management and experience in utilising BowTie methodology.
+ Experience and understanding of military aviation regulations and their application.
+ Qualified Safety Investigator with experience in conducting and leading safety investigations over several years.
+ A sound understanding of Just Culture principles and their application.
+ Experience in managing large volumes of safety reports using military or civil reporting tools and processes.
+ Experience in working across multiple functions and levels to build relationships and understanding to build trust and a positive safety culture.
+ The candidate should possess strong communication and organisational skills and demonstrate the ability to use common IT and project management concepts/tools.
+ The role will have significant UK MoD customers, supplier and wider Boeing interfaces and, therefore, a person who possesses good interpersonal skills balanced with diplomacy and resolve is essential.
**Desirable competencies:**
+ Qualified and experienced Human Factors trainer.
+ Experience using the MoD's ASIMS tool for in-service occurrence monitoring and trending or a civil equivalent system.
+ Experience in data analytics.

Basic Qualifications

- A NEBOSH Diploma/NVQ5 level or equivalent qualification

- Understanding of UK Environment, Health and Safety legislation

- Advanced proficiency in verbal and written English

Preferred Qualifications

- Experience of Lean, 5S, or Kaizen methodologies

- Experience of planning or managing environmentally conscious initiatives
