WHAT WILL YOU BE DOING?
In this role, you will design, develop, and deliver SSRS reports and dashboards to support data-driven decisions across manufacturing, sales, and compliance. You’ll write and optimise complex SQL queries, collaborate with stakeholders to provide insights on key metrics, and enhance existing reporting solutions for performance and accuracy. Alongside troubleshooting data integrity issues, you’ll document processes, support data governance initiatives, and recommend improvements based on best practices in SQL, SSRS, and BI.

This role is 2 days a week in the office and 3 days remote working. You can either be based in Cambridge or Sheffield, so candidates commutable to either location is fine.
Lithium3 are working with our client exclusively to recruit a Senior Data Engineer (Who could also be a Senior Data Analyst or SQL Developer background) to join their established team who sit between the main Enterprise Data Warehouse Build function and the visualisation team for reporting. This individual will be responsible for managing, maintaining expanding and optimising the data pipeline and architecture, and supporting end users through data and report delivery. This team is very much doing Projects , working with technical and non-technical stakeholders on business problems providing Data solutions. Project examples might be managing trade profit data in the ERP and POS systems or creating a Pricing Control system. Our client is in the final stages of migrating to Azure BI Platform.
The ideal candidate for the role will need to have extensive experience of data interface design and delivery, ETL processes and data modelling and will enjoy optimising data systems and building them from the ground up. They will support our MI colleagues in the delivery of reports, dashboards and data sets using a variety of tools, including but not limited to SSMS, SSIS, MS Excel, MS Access and will ensure robust, automated and efficient data pipelines are in place for our data Visualisation Team to use through Power BI. You must be self-directed and comfortable supporting the data needs of multiple teams, users and systems and relish the opportunity to. The right candidate will be excited by the prospect of optimizing or even re-designing our company’s data architecture to support our next generation of products and data initiatives.
The successful candidate will require:
- Advanced SQL knowledge and experience working with relational databases, query authoring (SQL) as well as familiarity with a variety of database technologies (including SQL, Access).
- Experience building and optimising ETL processes, data pipelines, architectures and data sets.
- Experience performing root cause analysis and resolving issues in relation to internal and external data and processes to answer specific business questions and identify opportunities for improvement.
- Strong analytic skills related to working with structured and unstructured datasets.
- Build processes supporting data transformation, data structures, metadata, dependency and workload management.
- Data modelling and database design experience
- Understanding of and exposure to Operational Data Stores, Data Warehouses, Data Lakes and similar structured data sources and targets in delivering data to end users
- Strong project management and organisational skills.
- Experience supporting and working with cross-functional teams in a dynamic environment.
- Experience of SSIS, SSRS, SSMS, Power BI and an expert SQL query writer.
- Experience of creating ad-hoc data sets and SQL reports for end users
- A successful history of manipulating, processing and extracting value from large disconnected datasets.
- Experience of using agile delivery methodologies
- Experience of creating high-quality technical documentation.
