Senior Operations Director - Logistics & Warehousing

Key Responsibilities:
- Develop and execute a comprehensive, long-term strategy for all logistics and warehousing functions, aligned with the company's overall business objectives.
- Provide strategic leadership and direction to regional operations managers and their teams across the UK.
- Drive significant improvements in operational efficiency, productivity, and cost management within all warehousing and distribution activities.
- Implement and champion best practices in inventory management, order fulfilment, transportation, and supply chain optimization.
- Oversee the selection, implementation, and management of advanced warehousing technologies and systems (e.g., WMS, automation).
- Establish and monitor key performance indicators (KPIs) to track operational performance, identifying trends and implementing corrective actions as needed.
- Ensure the highest standards of health, safety, and environmental compliance across all facilities, managed remotely.
- Foster a culture of continuous improvement, innovation, and operational excellence throughout the logistics organization.
- Manage relationships with key external partners, including carriers, suppliers, and third-party logistics providers.
- Develop and manage departmental budgets, ensuring financial discipline and achieving cost-saving targets.
- Lead talent development initiatives to build a skilled and motivated workforce capable of meeting future challenges.
- Master's degree in Logistics, Supply Chain Management, Business Administration, or a related field.
- Minimum of 12 years of progressive experience in operations and supply chain management, with at least 5 years in a senior director-level role overseeing large-scale logistics and warehousing operations.
- Demonstrated success in developing and implementing strategic initiatives that have significantly improved operational performance and reduced costs.
- Extensive knowledge of warehouse management systems (WMS), transportation management systems (TMS), automation technologies, and other relevant supply chain software.
- Proven ability to lead, manage, and motivate large, dispersed teams.
- Exceptional strategic thinking, analytical, and problem-solving skills.
- Outstanding communication, negotiation, and stakeholder management abilities.
- Experience in managing complex budgets and financial performance.
- Deep understanding of regulatory requirements and best practices in health and safety within warehouse environments.
- Must be comfortable and effective working in a fully remote capacity, with a proven ability to manage teams and operations without direct physical oversight.
