The first new nuclear power station to be built in the UK in over 20 years; Hinkley Point C in Somerset will provide low-carbon electricity for around 6 million homes, create thousands of jobs and bring lasting benefits to the UK economy.
Marking a significant milestone in the revitalisation of our nuclear power industry, Hinkley Point C will make a major contribution to the UKs move to reduce carbon emissions. The electricity generated by its two EPR reactors will offset 9 million tonnes of carbon dioxide emissions a year.
What you'll be doing
As a construction engineer you will support the Site Wide Workshops Operations project manager in the day to day engineering, Construction planning to understand the instillation of supports across the HPC site on behalf of the MEH Alliance.
- Delegation of responsibilities to Construction Engineers/Works Coordination Leads. Lead, manage and motivate the team through implementation of best practice.
- Produce the construction packs for the cutting, welding and coating of the
supports. - Work with preconstruction to maintain 6 months rolling stock of supports
and clamps based on programme. - Return any supports to warehouse that can not be installed within the
agreed KPIs. - Support the Workshops Operations Manager with all reasonable
requests. - Provide and demonstrate a positive HSE leadership, building a strong
and compliant HS&E culture throughout the whole construction life cycle
of the Project. - Ensure compliance with all nuclear safety and site license requirements
Who we're looking for
- Degree in relevant discipline or HNC in relevant discipline or Relevant Experience along with Competency based Interview.
- Able to obtain a security clearance.

What you will do
As a Project Construction Engineer (Electrical), you’ll be the vital link between our project engineering teams and the safe, high-quality execution of work on site. From issuing permits and safety paperwork, to planning daily activity and driving progress, you’ll ensure that what we build is built right – first time, safely, and efficiently.
This role involves daily liaison with contractors, planners, schedulers and SHE professionals, providing technical guidance and setting the tone for best practice on site. You’ll be a visible leader, conducting process confirmations, upholding high safety standards, and ensuring all work is delivered in line with project scope and schedule.
Your responsibilities will include:
- Planning, supervising and coordinating daily site installation activities in collaboration with planners, schedulers, and contractors.
- Ensuring all work complies with health, safety, and environmental standards.
- Issuing work permits and safety documentation such as Permit to Work, Hot Work Certificates, Atmospheric Tests, and Access permits.

What you will need

- A strong understanding of electrical installation works and experience working with permit-to-work systems is essential.
- You should have a solid knowledge of health and safety principles, ideally supported by a qualification such as IOSH Managing Safely.
- A working knowledge of HVAC systems & fire alarm and protection systems would be an advantage but not essential.
- Familiarity with project management processes and critical path analysis is important, along with excellent time management and communication skills.

- Previous hands-on experience with HVAC systems.

Accountabilities:
Delegation of responsibilities to CE’s/Works Coordination Leads. Lead, manage and motivate the team through implementation of best practice.
2. Ultimately accountable to deliver Discipline Specific Construction Work Pack scope of works to support the MEH construction activities
3. Define boundary of scope of works
4. Liaising with necessary SME’s and client counterparts
5. Ensuring documents are compliant with latest works information and other MEH documentation
6. Ensure documents are kept up-to-date and reviewed on a minimum 6 monthly basis
7. Ownership and driving of deliverables from conception to A-Accepted status >90% first time accepted criteria
8. Prioritisation and ownership of documentation to enable construction works as per the level 4 plan. E.g. T-3 months accepted prior to works
9. Support continuous improvement programmes to improve process/procedures
10. Directly report to the Building Manager or nominated deputy.
11. Provide and demonstrate a positive HSE leadership, building a strong and compliant HS&E culture throughout the whole construction life cycle of the Project.
12. Ensure compliance with all nuclear safety and site licence requirements

- Implementing the procurement strategy defined by the Commodity Procurement
- Management and the Projects Multi-Functional-Teams (MFT) within the scope of activity supporting Airbus divisions' needs.
- Manage procurement projects and call for tenders with multi-divisional scope within the scope of the Building & Construction Team and international scope on demand, including within Building sub-commodity PJRB.
- Develop and maintain an efficient supply chain capable of delivering goods/services, matching Airbus requirements and business objectives.
- Ensure that deliverables are in line with the contractual terms (cost, time, quality).
- Secure long-term alignment of the preferred supplier base with the long-term trans-divisional strategic needs of Airbus.
- Ensure continuous commercial relationship with suppliers to secure work with best-in-class suppliers and protect Airbus from contractual risks.
