What will you be responsible for?
As a Design Manager, you'll be working within the Capital main laying team, who are committed to delivering high-quality, efficient solutions for critical infrastructure projects.
You will lead the design for both in-house teams, remote design partners, and external design consultancies. You will be fully responsible for all aspects of design across the relevant portfolio, ensuring projects are delivered within agreed timescales and meet both commercial and technical requirements.
From the outset, you will assume responsibility for your team of designers and accountability for delivery within their pods for each scheme design. In addition to your leadership duties, you will be responsible for CDM Principal Designer duties under the delegation of the Design & Engineering Manager. You will ensure compliance with Totex Delivery Process, New Roads & Streetworks Act 1991 and other relevant regulations.
Your day to day will include:
- Lead and oversee the design process for the main laying portfolio, ensuring compliance with technical and safety standards
- Allocate design resources, maintain close liaison with utilities teams, and coordinate efforts with the modelling team
- Champion the digital development of infrastructure designs, promoting the use of 3D models
