JOB FUNCTION:
- To support and improve production efficiency through proactive and reactive maintenance of electrical systems and associated equipment. The role involves fault diagnosis, repair, installation, and continuous improvement initiatives to reduce downtime and achieve high reliability and safety across plant operations.
KEY RESPONSIBILITIES:
Planned Maintenance
- Conduct preventative maintenance (PM) as scheduled and agreed with departmental managers.
- Maintain accurate records of PM tasks and assist in managing spare parts inventory.
Reactive Maintenance
- Prioritise and carry out emergency repairs to minimize downtime across production equipment.
- Diagnose faults in electrical systems, including PLC's, motors, sensors and control panels.
General Maintenance
- Undertake general electrical tasks throughout the factory and office areas.
- Provide support for the mechanical maintenance team, including fitting and strip down of equipment.
- Assist with routine testing to ensure factory and office electrical safety compliance.
Improvement and Project Work
- Support engineering projects aimed at enhancing plant reliability, efficiency and safety.
- Recommend and help implement continuous improvement activities within the department.
HEALTH, SAFETY & ENVIRONMENT
- Always follow safe working practices and comply with current legislation and company policy.
- Maintain high standards of housekeeping within the department and work areas.
- Ensure environmental controls and procedures are upheld in line with legislation and internal standards.
Additional Requirements
Willingness to work outside of normal hours during shutdowns, holidays, or in emergency situations in line with company call-out policies.
Flexibility to adapt to changing priorities and responsibilities.
Preferred Qualifications Skills & Competencies
GCSE Grade C or above (or equivalent) in Math's, English and Science.
HNC/HND in electrical or mechanical engineering, or equivalent vocational qualification.
City & Guilds or NVQ Level 3 in Electrical Installation or Maintenance.
18th Edition Wiring Regulations (BS7671)
Skills & Competencies Experience
Electrical fault finding and root cause analysis.
Reading and interpreting electrical and engineering drawings.
Experience working with PLC's, sensors, drives, motors, and safety systems.
Basic mechanical skills (e.g. fitting, welding, fabrication).
Strong planning, organization, and communication skills.
Proactive, team-oriented and committed to high standards of work.
Experience
Previous experience in a manufacturing or production environment.
Working knowledge of hydraulic, pneumatic, and lubrication systems.

Electrical Maintenance Technician – Offshore Wind

Reports to: Wind Farm Site Supervisor and O&M Manager
Eden Scott are pleased to be supporting their Offshore Wind Client with the appointment of an Electrical Technician to join the Operations and Maintenance team based from their Aberdeen office. This position will include a mixture of onshore and offshore work.
Position Summary
The Technician/SAP primary role is the ongoing repair and maintenance activities required onshore and offshore for the safe operation of the Wind Farm, in compliance with the site’s procedures and Risk Assessments and in compliance with Wind Turbine Safety Rules.
The candidate will be required to multi-task on a regular basis, and have a strong understanding and contribution to a good safety culture. The role will be on a shift-based pattern (12 hour shifts) but may require some flexibility to meet unplanned operational requirements.
Additional responsibilities will include acting as Senior authorised Person to perform specialised High Voltage switching in compliance with the Site HV Safety Rules. Training will be provided in this discipline however a good understanding of electrical systems is essential.
Responsibilities
- The role is partly onshore and partly offshore depending on weather conditions. As well as the Aberdeen Office and Offshore Wind Farm, the role also requires maintenance activities to be undertaken at a number of sites around Aberdeen (CTV base at the local harbour, Substation to the South of Aberdeen and warehouse storage within Aberdeenshire).
- Work in shifts of 2 weeks on 2 weeks off (during the 2 weeks on shift it is necessary to remain on-call in case of an outage through the night, which requires on-site assistance).
The main Tasks consist of:
- Wind Turbine floating foundations Repair and Maintenance, including:
- Monitoring, troubleshooting and configuration of Windfarm networks
- Monitoring and operation of the floating platform
- Preventive maintenance of floating platform systems: planning and execution
- Troubleshooting remotely and offshore platform systems issues
- Corrective Maintenance
- Sourcing of materials, parts, and external services
- Reporting on floating foundation operation and maintenance
Inspections of wind turbine foundations:
- Participation in inspection planning
- Participation in sourcing of third party subcontractors
- Planning of activities with subcontractors
- Offshore facilitation and monitoring of inspection activities
- Supervision of inspection and associated reporting
Warehouse supervision:
- Parts planning and control
- Equipment planning and control
- PPE planning and control
Support wind farm supervisor with other activities including:
- Liaison with WTG OEM
- Liaison with other offshore and onshore subcontractors
- Substation maintenance
Senior Authorised Person
- Follow Site Safety Rules for SAPs.
- Preparation of HV Switching schedules, subject to approval of the third party provider of HV Safety Rules.
- Issue Safety Documents, subject to approval of the third party provider of HV Safety Rules.
- Reset breakers and investigate substation faults under guidance of the third party provider of HV Safety Rules.
- Liaise with third party provider of HV Safety Rules.
Requirements:
- Experienced in an Electrical Technician / Instrument Technician role or equivalent
- Qualified to HNC / HND Level in Electrical Engineering
- Completion of an Electrical Apprenticeship
