The Electrical Engineering Function Lead is responsible for overseeing all engineering assurance and compliance across the organisation. This role ensures that engineering activities adhere to the highest standards of safety, quality, and regulatory requirements. By leading the engineering team and collaborating with other departments, the role will drive innovation, uphold industry best practices, and ensure the successful delivery of projects in line with both client and company expectations.

The Role involves ensuring that the Electrical Engineering, Job Family is suitably resourced with the correct competency and volume of people to support current and future workload.

The Electrical Engineering Function Lead will support and provide line management to the Engineering, team in a matrix organisation in managing utilisation and performance of the teams.

The Electrical Engineering Lead will also ensure that the professional and personal development of its teams is maintained, and any future capability and skills training is identified and provided to match the needs of the business units requirements.

The Electrical Engineering Function Lead will provide and environment of developing the future of engineering. It will promote and encourage apprenticeships and graduate programmes to support, nurture, mentor and support the future leaders, managers and engineers of the Enable Infrastructure business.

Key Responsibilities:

Oversee engineering on all projects. Provide support and guidance when needed.
Ensure that projects have sufficient electrical engineering resources/experience to ensure successful delivery of the project through exceeding client expectations on programme, cost and quality.
Ensure that projects have the resources to be delivered in compliance with the Enable IMS and relevant electrical specifications and standards.
Manage engineering risk, commercial issues and compliance

Key experience:

Strong understanding of electrical and HV engineering, service, and technical disciplines.
High degree of commercial awareness with knowledge and contacts in the design sector.
Knowledge of rail-specific processes such as PACE and Network Rail design/assurance requirements.
Understanding of relevant regulations and statutory guidance.

Job Requirements:

- Extensive experience in senior electrical engineering role within the construction industry, including a minimum of 6 years as a project manager.

- Extensive experience within the Railway Industry, Power, DNO and Energy Connections industry

- Proven track record in design and build projects, with site experience on major schemes.

- Experience in managing or leading teams across various engineering disciplines.

- Experience in managing and operating in a matrix in an engineering environment would be advantageous.

- Experience in managing and maintaining NERS and NICEIC Electrical standards and accreditations would be advantageous.

Qualifications

- Degree or equivalent in a relevant electrical engineering discipline.

- Chartered or Incorporated status with a relevant institution; Fellow status preferred.

Technical skills

- Strong understanding of electrical and HV engineering, service, and technical disciplines.

- High degree of commercial awareness with knowledge and contacts in the design sector.

- Knowledge of rail-specific processes such as PACE and Network Rail design/assurance requirements.

- Understanding of relevant regulations and statutory guidance.

Additional skills

- Excellent briefing capabilities and ability to think strategically and imaginatively.

- Strong relationship-building skills to interact effectively with clients and stakeholders.

**The team you'll be working with:**
**Power Systems Design engineer - Substation Design and Protection Design**
You will be joining NTT Data UK and Ireland Power Engineering division. You will be driving the UK's transition to a modern power grid by accelerating connections analysis, new connections design, new power infrastructure projects design and new energy generation and storage projects design.
**What experience you'll bring:**
+ Experience in design of power distribution and transmission infrastructure
+ Experience in power Protection systems design and testing
+ Experience in Power systems analysis - Load Flow, Thermal constraint and Voltage analysis
+ Understanding of power systems electrical equipment - Switchgear, Substation equipment, Overhead cables
+ Specific experience in substation design up to UK Grid Supply Point (GSP) level - 132KV
+ Experience in Protection relay settings
+ Experience with Real Time Systems in a Power Distribution context
+ Experience in physical implementation of connections and reinforcement
+ Familiarity with network planning applications such as DigSilent Powerfactory, Protection Design toolsets and Substation design toolsets
+ Capability and experience in preparing technical reports in a UK context compliant with UK Grid codes for Power Distribution
+ A Masters degree or PhD in Power systems engineering is ideal. A bachelors degree in electrical engineering is acceptable,
