Role purpose:
In this role, you will be responsible to ensure installation quality of LV electrical
systems and building automation systems through subcontractor according to
company standards and BS 7671. The ideal candidate brings in-depth knowledge of
industrial electrical systems, BMS, strong problem-solving skills, and the ability to
interact within a large CAPEX organisation.
Key accountabilities:
- Supervision of the installation, documentation, and troubleshooting of electrical systems, building management systems (BMS), machinery, and control panels within a high-capacity manufacturing setting.
- Provide diagnostic support and testing for electrical systems such as motors, variable frequency drives (VFDs), electrical and instrumentation panels, and automation equipment.
- Engage in the design and execution of projects aimed at upgrading electrical systems and equipment.
- Analyze and interpret wiring diagrams, loop drawings, electrical schedules, and schematics to identify and rectify electrical problems.
- Ensure that all tasks are conducted safely and in accordance with Company and British standards, while also providing support to electricians and technicians.
- Serve as the initial point of contact to guarantee installation quality through electrical subcontractors, adhering to company and BS 7671 standards.
- Assist with field installation inquiries and collaborate with design engineers to address troubleshooting activities related to electrical systems.
- Work in partnership with engineering teams, electrical subcontractors, construction managers, and other project disciplines to achieve project objectives.
- Lead a small team of electricians, overseeing and organising minor low-voltage (LV) electrical system modifications and defining the bill of materials (BoM).
Key requirements:
- Completion of a recognised apprenticeship or technical program in the field of electrical work.
- Possession of Electrical City & Guilds or NVQ certification.
- Extensive experience and proficiency in the regulations pertaining to BS7671 compliant industrial electrical installations.
- Additional qualifications for low-voltage electrical systems, such as electrical AP or CompEX, are considered advantageous.
- Demonstrated experience with low-voltage systems, motor controls, building services, and industrial automation, with over 5 years in the field.
- Strong expertise in working with electrical distribution systems, UPS systems, VFDs, and distributed control systems or PLCs.
- Comprehensive understanding of UK electrical regulations, industrial safety standards, and lockout/tagout procedures.
- Familiarity with electrical installation regulations in ATEX environments.
