Position: Engagement Officer
Location: Devon/Hybrid

About the Role
The Engagement Officer is responsible for identifying and maintaining meaningful relationships with global stakeholders, including governmental, non-governmental and educational institutions. We are tackling the greatest threats working donkeys face locally and around the world, from the donkey skin trade to challenges working animals face in disasters. By coordinating engagement around sustainable development, wildlife crime, One Health and One Welfare agendas, the Engagement Officer will enable the cohesion within the member groups that the Sanctuary are currently part of and inspire new ways of working. This includes the International Coalition of Working Equids (ICWE) and developing and building new coalition opportunities around working animals.
Your principal duties and responsibilities will include
- Build strong internal and external partnerships with global stakeholders, including governmental and non-governmental organisations to grow existing and build new relationships.
- Coordinate and assist with accreditations and processes that support access in policy forums.
- Assist in the coordination of coalition and alliance engagement opportunities globally.
- Lead on agreed coalition / alliance priorities such as creating material, meeting with partners and planning international events.
- Create supporting materials and reports for stakeholders that advance the influencing agenda.
- Engage with, and support, team processes around strategic planning for external events and activities.
- Support the wider activities of the influencing work including helping to identify key external stakeholders and new forums.
- Manage the team horizon scanning
Due to the nature of the role, flexibility will be required for working outside of core hours, and for occasional UK and international travel.
About You
You will be able to demonstrate excellent communication skills with the ability to flex communication style depending on the audience and the message being delivered.
You will also have:
- A proven record organising online events for international audiences;
- High level analytical skills combined with the ability to draft strategic responses;
- Strong organisation and coordination skills with the ability to multi-task and demonstrate working with a number of conflicting demands to meet multiple deadlines;
- Previous experience of delivering positive stakeholder engagement activities;
- A good understanding of the challenges and opportunities when ensuring integration between internal departments and external partners;
- An understanding of animal welfare and/or international development with evidence of working on these topics;

About the role

About you
As a LMP Engagement Coach, you will be enthusiastic about young people and education. You will use this post to increase participation and engagement among our young students. The Engagement Coach will deliver activities including team-building games, building social interaction, critical thinking activities, restorative practice, and therapeutic techniques.
You will play a pivotal role in mentoring and supporting the students' needs and aiding retention of students on the course.
Education and Experience

- 3+ years working with 11-16-year-olds

**A little more about your role.**
We have an exciting opportunity for an enthusiastic and motivated individual to join our growing Engagement team. We drive best practice in engagement, community relations, consultation and stakeholder management in the delivery of some of the country's largest infrastructure projects. We are particularly keen to hear from talented individuals with experience of delivering consultation and engagement within the water, energy (renewables, nuclear and transmission) sectors.
Within our Engagement business unit, your primary focus will be leading the consultation engagement services to support the development of planning applications, across several significant infrastructure projects across the UK. You will do this by:
+ Providing strategic advice to project teams and clients on stakeholder and community strategies for large scale multi-disciplinary projects.
+ Working in accordance with all legislative and regulatory requirements of planning application processes, including those outlined in the Planning Act 2008, Town and Country Planning Act and Electricity Act 1989
+ Planning and delivering stakeholder communications and consultations, including managing risks and issues, organising and managing public information events, and managing outputs to achieve engagement and consultation objectives.
+ Line managing and enabling members of the team to successfully deliver engagement and consultation activities across a range of multidisciplinary projects.
+ Taking project management and commercial responsibility for programmes within the team including managing tender production and business development opportunities, project management of schemes including resourcing, budget management, managing risk and ensuring on-time and on-budget delivery to programme.
+ Identifying opportunities to embed global communications and engagement best practice into our everyday.
+ You will champion health and safety, wellbeing, inclusion, and diversity.
You will be joining a UK-wide team of 60+ communication and engagement specialists who are passionate about what we do. We work on projects across WSP's portfolio locally and nationally; no two projects are the same.
You will report to the Head of Engagement - leading and inspiring a regional team of communication and engagement experts. You will manage existing projects and client relationships and building new partnerships.
You will be supported in your personal development, be assigned a mentor and a buddy and participate in WSP global employee engagement initiatives.

**What we will be looking for you to demonstrate.**
+ Demonstrated experience in leading the DCO/complex engagement process across large multidisciplinary infrastructure projects.
+ At least degree-qualified or extensive experience in a related field.
+ Experience in the road, rail, utilities, water, environment or energy sectors.
+ Strong team player who has an enthusiastic and motivated attitude.
+ Proven line management experience including delivery of training initiatives.
+ Proven experience of effectively managing and building stakeholder relationships in complex environments.
+ Effective decision-maker with ability to act on own initiative.
+ Persuasive influencer with ability to strike rapport and exert strong negotiation and problem-solving skills.
+ Well-ordered, structured approach to delivery of tasks, and flexible with ability to adapt within demanding and fast-changing environment.
+ Excellent attention to detail and organisational skills to manage a varied workload.
