Our client are a fast growth digital business.


As Ecommerce Merchandiser you will assist the Ecommerce Merchandising Lead in the effective management of websites and the App. Including but not limited to product launches, trade reporting and subsequent trading of the site, visually merchandising where appropriate and briefing in content and collections.


A key part of this role is to identify and implement opportunities to drive sales across all sales generating areas of all websites, analysing all aspects of the customer conversion funnel to maximise conversion.


Roles and Responsibilities

Trading

  • Own agreed website departments and visually merchandise all relevant product categories, homepage categories and ongoing collection categories in line with seasonal trading calendar and marketing plan, reviewing to make sure the business wide agreed VM strategy is in place
  • Review key lines and bestselling product weekly to ensure opportunity is maximised and products have a good visibility throughout the website and on digital marketing channels
  • Review slow selling products with Stock Merchandising and agree with Ecommerce Merchandising Lead appropriate actions to improve sales
  • Review and suggest changes for website/app product categorisation and range navigation and website filters
  • Maintain onsite search rules and search management including but not limited to synonyms, searches with zero results, stop words, compound words and redirects, identifying poor converting terms and areas to improve conversion
  • Have knowledge of sorting rules and product recommendations rules and any tests in place, and support the EML and Digital Optimisation Manager on implementing these as applicable


Website content

  • Select products for online content including but not limited to homepages, inspirations, navigation, and landing pages in line with the seasonal plan created with the Ecommerce Merchandising Lead
  • Brief website content to internal Creative & web development teams (design, copy, web developer), sign off with Ecommerce Merchandising Lead
  • Attend seasonal range presentations and content planning meetings with Ecommerce, Creative and Buying departments, aligning with Ecommerce Merchandising Lead to agree key product themes for website content
  • Demonstrate commitment to innovation; Input ideas, content requirements to support the Ecommerce Merchandising strategy
  • Conduct and derive insights from competitor analysis, end of season reviews and convert into proposals for CT content changes / new initiatives where applicable
  • Brief website content testing requirements to Ecommerce Merchandising Lead and Digital Optimisation Manager as applicable to increase website content engagement


Email

  • Select priority products, themes and category stories for UK, IRE territories to inform Digital CRM broadcast calendar and oversee the set up associated product collections in line with broadcast dates, brief to Digital CRM team
  • Feedback changes to planned product features based on in trading performance to Digital CRM team to ensure CRM communications gain maximum impact
  • Maintain an awareness of results to inform future planning, agreeing with Ecommerce Merchandising Lead and Digital CRM team


Reporting

  • Deliver associated trade reporting as agreed with Ecommerce Merchandising Lead providing actionable insights to boost trade across all key websites and App
  • Use Analytics tools and associated systems to inform merchandising and trading recommendations made to Ecommerce Merchandising Lead


SEO

  • Support the implementation of SEO content changes advised by Digital Marketing Manager to support overall SEO strategy
  • Review proposed SEO changes with Ecommerce Merchandising Lead to ensure alignment to Cotton Traders category and products
  • Closely collaborate with web development team to ensure SEO best practices are properly followed throughout website content

About The Role
You will join the Hearst Ecommerce Content team to assist on growing the Homes and Lifestyle shopping verticals across some of our Hearst UK's trusted brands. You will work under the Homes & Lifestyle Ecommerce Editor to execute a cross-brand affiliate editorial strategy that fits within the business's growth plan, increasing output and affiliate revenue. This role will mainly focus on Red, Prima, House Beautiful, Country Living, and Digital Spy.

You will report into the Homes and Lifestyle Ecommerce Editor and work with the Ecommerce Commercial team and SEO team regularly, as well liaising daily with various digital heads, especially on Red, Prima, House Beautiful, Country Living, and Digital Spy. This role will also work closely with the Hearst CRM team and the Hearst social team.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Work closely with the Homes & Lifestyle Ecommerce Editor to execute a cross-brand content strategy to grow two key verticals.
  • Create quality ecommerce articles – features, news stories and deals – according to brands' needs, in the appropriate tone and style, across a variety of home and lifestyle product categories.
  • Collaborate with brand digital editors on executing SEO-driven content calendars, pitching ideas for stories to digital leads and also taking commissions, for news, features or deals stories.
  • Collaborating with the Brand Editors and the Affiliate experts to maximise home and Lifestyle affiliate opportunities across the business
  • Collaborating with the Affiliates team with necessary information to identify key retailers to work with, analyse affiliate network intel and help secure favourable rates with key retailers.
  • Work with the SEO team to ensure the content strategy is SEO optimised so that we're prioritising the main keywords for each of the brands.
  • Supporting all brands over key shopping events and periods, such as Black Friday, with advanced planning and real-time coverage.
  • Tending pieces for brands over the year to keep them optimised and ranking.
  • Using analytics and producing monthly reports, including actionable insights.
  • Staying on top of market trends and new launches in the home and garden world and forging relationships with retailers and PRs.
  • With the support of the Editor, you will be working closely with the CRM team to contribute to various Hearst newsletters, as well as working closely with the social team to create social content.
