Salary: 35,000 - 40,000 per annum
Metalis are currently working with a UK leading manufacturer, who are looking for a Product Design Engineer to join their team.
Job Duties:
- Develop product design from specification to launch
- Prototype new product designs for review
- Export and modify Bills of Materials for designs
- Ensure the integrity of the IMS is maintained
- Manage progress on design projects
- Maintain design file structuring and part numbering
- Work closely with cross-functional teams, including production, quality, marketing and sales
- Evaluate the effectiveness of designs and implement changes to improve the product design
Job Requirements:
- Mechanical Design Engineer experience
- Competent in 3D CAD, preferably SolidWorks
- Knowledge of industrial processes, techniques and standards
Salary & Shift:
- 35,000 - 40,000 per annum
- Monday to Friday, 37.5 hours per week (flexible working hours)

My client designs and install a range bespoke solutions around the Retail industry. They are looking for a Design Engineer to join their team in Macclesfield on a permanent basis.
The Mechanical Design Engineer will ideally have the following attributes:
- Degree / HNC / HND / BTEC / NVQ qualified in Mechanical Engineering or similar
- At least 1 year experience in a similar Design Engineering / CAD Operation position
- Be proficient using 3D CAD software, they use SolidWorks.
- Knowledge of a variety of materials.
- Good theoretical mechanical engineering knowledge of core principles and tight tolerances
- Excellent communication skills both verbal and written
- Proficient using MS Office
- Excellent organisational skills and time management skills
- Have the ability to work well alone as well as part of a small multi-disciplinary team
The Mechanical Design Engineer role will involve:
- Using CAD for concept design and producing technical drawings
- Liaising with manufacturing providers

THE ROLE - Product Design Teacher
As a Product Design Teacher you will be teaching Key Stage 3 - 4, with the offering of Key Stage 5 to be added to the timetable for a capable practitioner in the future. You will need to be confident in delivering GCSE to a high standard. Ideally you will have an undergraduate degree in a related Product Design field along with the appropriate Product Design teacher training qualification. If you have experience in teaching or an interest in other topic areas within Design Technology this will be advantageous. As with any Product Design Teacher role, the ability to teach through the Design Technology syllabus is desired.
Students and teachers alike enjoy lessons, which make for a positive and purposeful atmosphere throughout the school. **Role Summary**
The Product Design Engineer plays a critical role in advancing the Cullen Connectors product portfolio, directly contributing to the growth of the Offsite business and its continued outperformance of market trends. This position supports strategic direction with hands-on technical expertise, delivering essential support across internal functions and to external stakeholders.
In this role, you will lead and support key strategic initiatives within the Cullen Connectors segment, with a particular focus on the development, improvement, and technical validation of both new and existing products. You will have full ownership of the onsite test rig, ensuring robust product testing, validation, and continuous improvement in line with evolving market and regulatory requirements.
A core part of the role involves collaborating with product and marketing teams to drive innovation through our Customer Back Innovation (CBI) process, guiding ideas from early-stage concepts and prototypes through to market-ready solutions. You'll also support the creation of technical marketing materials and sales tools to help promote and position our products within the construction sector.
Additionally, you will assist with the development of our R&D apprentice, providing both technical mentorship and support with their academic and day-to-day activities.
Reporting to the Senior Engineering Manager, your success will be measured by your ability to prioritise high-impact (80/20) activities, manage time effectively, and deliver clear, measurable results that drive business performance.
**Responsibilities**
+ Overseeing all aspects of product innovation, development, and technical testing.
+ Collaborate with the segment Team to Identify emerging markets, technologies, and product/service opportunities to drive strategic growth.
+ Contribute to Product Line Simplification (PLS) efforts to enhance operational efficiency, reduce complexity, and help the business deliver greater value with fewer resources.
+ Promote a culture of innovation, problem-solving, and effective cross-functional collaboration.
+ Drive the identification, creation and delivery of new product opportunities aligned with market trends and customer needs.
+ Lead the prototyping, testing, and validation processes for both new and existing products to ensure performance and compliance.
+ Collaborate closely with Product and Operations teams to apply design-for-manufacture principles from concept through to production.

+ Ensure all product innovation activities are properly documented, tracked, and reported to maintain traceability and support decision-making.
**Experience and skills:**
+ Appreciation for safety always ensuring a safe working environment (internal & external) and a cultural understanding of continuous improvement for health & safety.
+ Degree in Civil/Structural Engineering (essential); a Master's or Chartered status is desirable.
+ Proven experience (5+ years) in a product development or technical leadership role within a manufacturing or construction-related business.
+ Strong understanding of structural design principles, materials (especially timber & steel), and construction methods.
+ Familiarity with relevant industry codes, standards, and testing methods (e.g., Eurocodes, British Standards, CE/UKCA marking).
