Our client is a successful and well-established manufacturer, they are recruiting for a Production Operative / Manufacturing Operator to join their team. As a Production Operator, you will safely operate production line machinery, and load machines with materials.
PLEASE ONLY APPLY IF:
• You are happy to work 4 on 4 off shift pattern, working 12 hour shifts (6.00am - 6.00pm / 6.00pm - 6.00am), both days and nights (2 day, 2 night, 4 off)
• You have previous experience in a factory / production / manufacturing environment
• You drive and have your own transport
• You are comfortable with lifting heavy items up to 25kg, and are generally physically fit
Salary: £13.72 per hour starting rate (pay increases as training progresses) + Overtime at x1.5
Shift pattern: 4 on 4 off, working 12 hour shifts (6.00am - 6.00pm / 6.00pm - 6.00am), both days and nights (2 day, 2 night, 4 off)
You may start off as a trainee Machine Operator, undertaking mostly on-the-job training over a few months. Initial skills to be acquired in the role include: making basic machine adjustments; checking and monitoring size/quality; taking rolls on and off the machines; filling; wrapping, packaging, stacking and shrinking.
As intensive training is given over the year, they are looking for people who intend to stay with the company, growing with increasing experience, and moving on to intermediate and setter status. Everyone is encouraged to learn and improve skills, which also attracts greater pay and provides greater flexibility to during holidays or absence.
Duties:
• To blend and mix all raw materials or use ready produced films as required.
• Operate the conversion, bagging machine/s and extrusion lines (to the level of your training), producing film and bags to the detailed specifications on job cards.
• To pack and warehouse products according to the requirements of the customer, and your shift supervisor.
• To make sure machine operation is clean and running at speeds to maximise job production, quality and accuracy.
• Make sure that rejects are removed from the system and are cut-up for recycling.
• Make sure that production records (quality checks, roll/box weight and quantity) are timely and accurately kept.
• Keep machinery and your work area in clean order, and report any machinery or product faults to your supervisor for further action.
• To select and load ready-produced products as required by the job details.

Production Operative
Leominster (home of Tyrrells hand cooked potato crisps)
Shift Pattern: 4 on, 4 off
Hours: 12-hour shifts (6am–6pm / 6pm–6am)
Rotation: Days and nights

The job entails carrying out a variety of factory skills safely and efficiently, using complex equipment to ensure production is maintained to the highest level. The role of Production Operative is wide-ranging and offers a great deal of variety with full training - you will be trained to operate the line (packing or process) complete daily routines, perform checks and report defects.

What will you be doing?
Operate complex machinery across either the frying or packing lines within a crisp manufacturing environment, ensuring production targets are met safely and efficiently.
Monitor online data systems to maintain high production standards, reporting any defects or issues promptly.
Apply strong problem-solving skills to resolve machine-related issues and minimise downtime.
Complete daily routines, carry out quality checks, and maintain accurate records in line with site procedures.
Receive full training and ongoing support, working as part of a friendly, collaborative team at our Leominster factory.

We’d love to hear from you if you can evidence the following knowledge, skills and experience:
Previous experience within manufacturing or the food industry (highly desirable)
Level 2 in Food Safety for Manufacturing (desirable, although bespoke training is provided)
A good standard of literacy and numeracy in English
The ability to take ownership and accountability
The ability to multi-task and meet deadlines
Attention to detail and accuracy is imperative
The ability to work independently as well as within a team
