The role:    

We are looking for a Lead Clinician to manage our in-house Clinical Team at Red Kite School based in Buckinghamshire. The postholder will work collaboratively with both the school’s Senior Leadership Team (SLT) and the Regional Clinical Lead. The role will be split between clinically leading the team and holding a therapy caseload. Working collaboratively with the team, the postholder will deliver bespoke assessment and intervention plans for our students who may present with complex profiles of need as a result of autism and other types of neurodivergence, developmental trauma and social, emotional and mental health (SEMH) needs.  Meeting the needs of EHCP plans will be a primary focus in this role, target led, via the OFG ‘all’, ‘group’ and ‘individual’ clinical ways of working, embedded into our clinical practice. They will also be responsible for coordinating the line management of the members of the onsite clinical team and leading on the service development of the clinical school-based service, alongside the school SLT and Regional Clinical Lead.

Essential Criteria:   

  • Recognised degree in either, Occupational Therapy, Speech & Language Therapy, Psychotherapy or registered as a Practitioner Psychologist with the HCPC.
  • Valid and up to date professional Registration & membership of professional body e.g. BPS
  • Experience within the specialist client group; working with autistic individuals and/or those with complex needs.
  • Clear and concise report writing relating to clinical and research activities

  • Ability to work independently

The role:   

We are looking for a Speech and Language Therapist to join our in-house clinical team at Willow Park school 

Working collaboratively with the education team, you will deliver bespoke Speech and Language Therapy assessment and intervention to pupils who may have experienced developmental trauma, be neurodivergent or have SEMH needs. You will work within the standards provided in the OFG Speech and Language Therapy Ways of Working. This will guide your practice within an education setting and clarify your roles and responsibilities, while taking into account the requirements of your governing and professional bodies. You will be given responsibility for holding a Speech and Language therapy caseload, with the full support of your designated clinical supervisor and site lead, also contributing to staff training and consultation as required This post would suit a resilient, creative and enthusiastic individual.

Essential Criteria:   

  • Undergraduate or Postgraduate degree in Speech and Language Therapy
  • HCPC registered
  • 1-2 yrs experience as a fully registered member of the RCSLT working in a similar setting.
  • Some relevant experience in a previously held job of engaging and working with individuals presenting with complex and diverse communication profiles
  • Some knowledge of neurodiversity and trauma informed practice
  • Some experience of multi-disciplinary working in a range of settings
  • Some experience of communicating with/working with families/relatives and carers
  • An interest in developing knowledge and skills in different areas of SaLT practice
  • Good relationship building, analytical and judgmental skills

  • Willingness to attend training and working towards further qualifications relevant to the client group supporting  

Desirable:  

  • Some understanding of the other differences, e.g. sensory and motor, which may impact on an individual’s communication strengths, differences, traits, difficulties and needs profile
  • Some evidence of understanding the relationship between arousal levels and communication

The role:   

We are looking for a Speech and Language Therapist to join our in-house clinical team at Willow Park school 

Working collaboratively with the education team, you will deliver bespoke Speech and Language Therapy assessment and intervention to pupils who may have experienced developmental trauma, be neurodivergent or have SEMH needs. You will work within the standards provided in the OFG Speech and Language Therapy Ways of Working. This will guide your practice within an education setting and clarify your roles and responsibilities, while taking into account the requirements of your governing and professional bodies. You will be given responsibility for holding a Speech and Language therapy caseload, with the full support of your designated clinical supervisor and site lead, also contributing to staff training and consultation as required This post would suit a resilient, creative and enthusiastic individual.

Essential Criteria:   

  • Undergraduate or Postgraduate degree in Speech and Language Therapy
  • HCPC registered
  • 1-2 yrs experience as a fully registered member of the RCSLT working in a similar setting.
  • Some relevant experience in a previously held job of engaging and working with individuals presenting with complex and diverse communication profiles
  • Some knowledge of neurodiversity and trauma informed practice
  • Some experience of multi-disciplinary working in a range of settings
  • Some experience of communicating with/working with families/relatives and carers
  • An interest in developing knowledge and skills in different areas of SaLT practice
  • Good relationship building, analytical and judgmental skills
  • Good communication skills (oral and written)
  • Good time management and organisational skills
  • Competent in core areas of SaLT practice and clear understanding of RCSLT Communication Standards
  • Knowledge of different SaLT assessment tools, types of intervention and knowledge of how to formulate support plans based on needs profile
  • Knowledge of legislation and its implications for both clinical practice and professional management in relation to the client group
  • Ability to work collaboratively as part of the multi-disciplinary team
  • Willingness to attend training and working towards further qualifications relevant to the client group supporting  

Desirable:  

  • Some understanding of the other differences, e.g. sensory and motor, which may impact on an individual’s communication strengths, differences, traits, difficulties and needs profile
  • Some evidence of understanding the relationship between arousal levels and communication
  • Full driving license and access to a car (Highly Desirable)

Red Kite is a brand-new independent special educational needs school which will cater for up to 60 pupils with social and emotional health needs.

The opportunity

The core purpose of this role is to be support the leadership and management team for the school. This will promote a secure foundation from which to achieve high standards in all areas of the school’s work. To gain this success an instructor must establish high quality education by effectively working with the senior management team to manage the teaching and learning whilst using personalised learning to realise the potential of all students.

To teach pupils across the full age and ability range present in the school 11-18, in order to ensure the highest possible standards of students achievement, personal development and wellbeing.

Key Responsibilities:

1. Shaping the Future

  • Working with the Deputy Headteacher to create a shared vision and strategic plan which inspires and motivates students, staff and all other members of the school community.
  • This vision should express core educational values and purpose and be inclusive of stakeholders’ values and beliefs. The strategic planning process is critical to sustaining school improvement and ensuring that the school moves forward for the benefit of its Students.

2. Leading Learning and Teaching

  • Responsibility for raising the quality of teaching and learning and for students’ achievement. This implies setting high expectations and monitoring and evaluating the effectiveness of learning outcomes. A successful learning culture will enable Students to become effective, enthusiastic, independent learners, committed to life-long learning.

3. Developing Self and Working with Others

  • Effective relationships and communication are vital in schools. Effective instructors manage themselves and their relationships well and is about building a professional learning community that enables others to achieve. Through performance management and effective continuing professional development practice, the Head teacher along with the Senior head teacher supports all staff to achieve high standards.
  • The instructor should be committed to their own continuing professional development in order to equip themselves with the capacity to deal with the complexity of the role and the range of leadership skills and actions required of them

4. Securing accountability

  • Assisting the head teacher, being accountable to a wide range of groups, particularly students, parents, carers, directors and the Local Authorities. They are accountable for ensuring that students enjoy and benefit from a high quality education, for promoting collective responsibility within the whole school community and for contributing to the education service more widely. 

5. Strengthening Community

  • Schools exist in a distinctive social context, which has a direct impact on what happens inside the school. School leadership should commit to engaging with the internal and external school community to secure equity and entitlement.

6. Safeguarding Children & Safer Recruitment

  • This school is committed to safeguarding and promoting the welfare of children and young people as required under the Education Act 2002 and recent Safeguarding amendments and expects all staff and volunteers to share this commitment

7. Teaching and learning

  • To be committed to and to promote the school’s aims, objectives, values and vision – ‘a community learning and achieving together.’
  • To maintain and contribute to the development of school policies to ensure that all staff effectively teach within the school’s Teaching and Learning Policy.
