We're now looking for an Art Director to oversee the creative direction across all Wallpaper* platforms.
What you’ll be doing…
As the Art Director for Wallpaper* you'll innovate and push forward the relationship across platforms, ensuring content works harder, identify new creative talent for illustration, photography and typography and manage a designer across print and online, assigning their day-to-day responsibilities and liaising with all the section editors on the magazine.
You'll represent Wallpaper* at key meetings and industry events, design covers and layouts in the print edition, work directly with Limited Edition cover artists and art direct photoshoots and come up with and oversee all ideas and concepts.

- Be analytical, highly literate and numerate, with excellent interpersonal and organisational skills.
- Be computer literate with excellent attention to detail and the ability to meet deadlines. Intermediate excel skills will be a distinct advantage.
- Good, clear communication in written and verbal form.
- Strong attention to detail and a tenacity to push activity through.
- Highly organised, able to prioritise and work to tight time-tables.

Amazon's Brand Innovation Lab is looking for a talented and passionate Conceptual Creative (Art Director) to create one-of-a-kind campaigns for a wide range of brands across our European locales. You'll partner with art directors, copywriters, designers, solutions managers and producers to create first-class customer experiences both on and offline by innovating with the Amazon canvas (Prime Video, Alexa, Twitch etc). You'll lead projects and own client relationships, focusing on creating work that benefits the end customer while pushing the creative envelope from brief to execution. This is a perm role.
From ideation through launch, you will be responsible for delivering ambitious insightful and data-driven concepts that translate needs and constraints into customer-focused brand campaign ideas and solutions. You will be equally strong at concept and execution, articulating end-to-end experiences, and turning that vision into high-quality experiences. This could include video content, user interface designs for voice and screen, interaction models, prototypes, and interactive advertising campaigns. This role will use data and insights to create campaign strategy and concepts, develop designs and the look and feel for experiences, as well as templates for never-before-done brand campaigns and experiences that will solve customer problems, on and off Amazon platforms. Candidates should be able to deliver high-quality designs and stellar art direction for campaigns across different Amazon touch points. Candidates should have in-depth understanding of Photoshop, Illustrator, InDesign, Powerpoint, and Figma (or an interest to learn Figma). For this role, we're looking for a an art director or visual designer with strong solid understanding of UX/UI design.
The candidate's portfolio should feature digital campaigns and ideas that solve an advertiser problem through a variety of different media channels, including but not limited to video, social, digital activations, radio, and outdoor. You have strong craft and executional skills, as well as digital media, and an acute attention to detail.
Key job responsibilities
- Design (art) and execute innovative ad campaigns and experiences for global brands.
- Partner with copywriters, program managers, developers, strategists and producers to create customer-focused solutions that deliver on advertiser objectives.
- Collaborate with internal teams, clients and external agency partners to deliver well crafted campaigns.
- Obsessed with understanding customers and making work that delivers both innovation and results.
- Ability to manage multiple projects at once within budget and deadlines.
A day in the life
- Working with advertisers, media and creative agencies on innovative work for automotive, finance, energy, insurance and telco.
- From designing brand experience such as documentary films in Prime Video to Alexa branded experiences, you will always strive to create a never been done before experience and executing it to the highest standards .
- Reviewing work in progress with your partners, collect and respond to feedback in order to meet the highest creative standards.
- Presenting a campaign internally and to clients.
About the team
The Brand Innovation Lab team is the internal group within Amazon that creates one-of-a-kind campaigns and activations for global advertisers, like Cocacola, Visa, BMW, Microsoft, Adidas, Samsung, and Unilever. Using all of the different platforms within the Amazon canvas (AR/VR, Alexa, Twitch, Prime Video, Custom landing pages on Amazon.com, etc.), we create campaigns that reach millions of Amazon customers across our digital channels and out in the real-world.
Basic Qualifications
- Conceptual creative (Art Director) experience at advertising agencies and/or as an in-house creative.
- An online creative portfolio demonstrating a conceptual thinking skillset, art direction and design.
- In-depth understanding of industry design tools (Ex. Adobe Creative Cloud, Figma, InVision), and a basic understanding of UX design.
- Data-driven and obsessed with measurable impact of a campaign.
- Excellent presentation skills and interactive storytelling ability.
- Strong organisation and collaboration skills.
- Exceptional at your craft and a critical project owner.
- A fascination with innovation and technology.
- Self-starter. Ability to manage ambiguity, work autonomously, and multi-task.
Preferred Qualifications
- Proven track record of executing projects successfully with teammates in different time zones.
- Award winning work.
- Experience with branded content and brand-focused sponsorships is preferable but not mandatory.
