Overview:

We are seeking a strong Network Engineer with active DV clearance to join a critical MOD programme. The successful candidate will be a hands-on network specialist, ideally CCNA-certified (CCNP desirable), and will work in a secure, on-site environment, delivering robust and secure network solutions to classified systems.



Key Responsibilities:

  • Provide network engineering support to the Defensive Network Services

  • Install, configure, and maintain networking hardware (routers, switches, firewalls)

  • Manage routing protocols (e.g., OSPF, BGP), VPNs, VLANs, ACLs, and NAT

  • Ensure secure network implementation in accordance with MOD standards (e.g., JSP 604 / 440)

  • Diagnose and resolve network faults and performance issues

  • Maintain accurate technical documentation, network diagrams, and change records

  • Collaborate closely with project teams, security teams, and MOD stakeholders



Essential Skills & Experience:

  • Active DV Clearance - must be currently held

  • Strong experience as a hands-on Network Engineer

  • CCNA certified (or equivalent level); CCNP desirable

  • Proficient in configuring and troubleshooting Cisco network environments

  • Good knowledge of TCP/IP, routing, switching, firewalls, and secure networking practices

  • Comfortable working in a high-security MOD setting, fully on-site

  • Ability to work independently, as well as part of a multi-disciplinary project team

The Network Engineer will be responsible for implementing, and managing network infrastructure projects. The ideal candidate will have a strong technical background in networking technologies, excellent leadership abilities, and a proven track record of successfully leading network projects.
 
Responsibilities:
  • Design, implement, and maintain our organization's computer network infrastructure, including LAN, WAN, VPN, and wireless networks.
  • Evaluate and recommend network technologies and solutions to improve performance, reliability, and security.
  • Work within a team of network engineers and technicians, providing guidance, training, and support to internal and external customers as needed.
  • Collaborate with other IT teams and departments to ensure seamless integration of network systems with other technologies and applications.
  • Develop and maintain network documentation, including network diagrams, configuration settings, and operating procedures.
  • Monitor network performance and troubleshoot network issues, identifying and resolving problems promptly for our Managed Service Clients.

Qualifications:

  • Strong skills in LAN and Wifi preferred 
  • Solid understanding of networking concepts and protocols, including TCP/IP, DNS, DHCP, VLANs, SD Wan routing, and switching.
  • Hands-on experience with network equipment such as routers, switches, firewalls, and wireless access points from leading vendors (HP, Alcatel, Cisco, Juniper, Palo Alto, etc.).
  • Strong leadership and communication skills, with the ability to effectively lead and motivate a team.
  • Excellent problem-solving and troubleshooting skills, with a methodical approach to resolving complex network issues.
  • Experience with network monitoring and management tools (e.g., SolarWinds, Nagios, Wireshark).
  • Relevant industry certifications (e.g., CCNA, CCNP, CompTIA Network+) preferred.

We have a fantastic opportunity for a water hydraulic engineer to join our network operations team on a permanent basis. Reporting to the Network and Supply Manager, you will be responsible for designing, maintaining, and optimising water distribution networks to ensure reliable and efficient water supply to our customers. You will leverage your expertise in water hydraulics to analyse and improve network performance, troubleshoot issues, and support infrastructure projects. You will be empowered to, influence & develop working processes alongside multiple internal & external stakeholders with the primary objective to mitigate risks associated with all network interventions. Key Responsibilities:
  • Design and model water distribution networks using hydraulic modelling software (e.g. Infoworks, or similar) to mitigate risks on network interventions.
  • Analyse and optimise water network performance to minimise leakage, improve pressure management and ensure regulatory compliance.
  • Design diagnostic tests to identify and resolve network issues, such as head losses, leaks or pressure anomalies.
  • Prepare technical documents, specifications, scopes for network improvements.
  • Ensure compliance with health, safety, and environmental regulations in all engineering activities.

Essential Qualifications and Experience:
  • The successful candidate will be educated in a Civil or Environmental engineering discipline or related field.
  • Minimum of 2 years of experience in water network engineering, with a strong focus on water hydraulics.
  • Demonstrated experience in analysing and optimising water distribution systems.
  • Strong understanding of water network operations, including pressure management and flow analyses.
  • Excellent problem-solving skills with an ability to work under pressure in a fast-paced environment.
  • Valid driving license and a willingness to travel to sites as needed.
Desirable skills:
  • Experience with GIS software for mapping and analysing water networks.
  • Knowledge of water quality standards and regulatory requirements.
  • Familiarity with SCADA systems or other monitoring / telemetry technologies.
  • Competent in Microsoft packages including Word, Excel, and Project.
