A fast-scaling FinTech is looking for a Finance Director to lead its finance function and shape strategic decision-making through data-driven insights, robust controls, and forward-thinking financial leadership.

This is a hands-on, high-impact role for a technically strong and commercially sharp accountant with experience in reporting, compliance, and international operations in a fast-paced environment.


Your new role

  • Own monthly, quarterly, and annual financial reporting
  • Lead budgeting, forecasting, and cashflow planning
  • Manage payroll, AP/AR, and HMRC relationships
  • Oversee group accounting, consolidations, and intercompany reconciliations
  • Ensure compliance with UK GAAP/IFRS, VAT, and corporation tax
  • Lead external audits and drive internal process improvements
  • Provide technical accounting guidance across the business, including SaaS revenue recognition and equity schemes


What you'll need to succeed

  • Chartered Accountant (ACA / ICAEW / ICAS / CAANZ)
  • 8+ years post-qualified experience, ideally in FinTech
  • Strong IFRS and UK GAAP knowledge
  • Proven ability to lead finance operations and influence senior stakeholders

We're looking for a brilliant, talented Finance Director to join our Executive team of 3 (Founder, Finance Director and MD) and Board, to execute on the next 2-3 years of our strategy - and help us become one of the world’s best brands.

The FD will play a pivotal role in shaping the future of Cubitts, acting as a key strategic partner to the founder, Leadership team and Board.  They will lead an agile finance and insight team, whilst supporting the Founder and MD across the day-to-day running of the business. 

They will oversee all financial aspects of the business, ensuring fiscal health, growth, profitability, and aligning financial strategies with the company’s growth ambitions and brand values. 

It’s a broad leadership role, which won't be easy, but it is an opportunity to build something truly unique.

The role involves:

  • Creating a highly effective and modern finance function - spanning financial planning, operational finance, corporate governance and risk management, financial leadership, investor relations and fundraise, data and insight.
  • Building a brilliant and profitable business which delivers our financial fundamentals, doubling topline sales from £17.5m to £5m, and growing EBITDA from 10% to 15%, through:
    • Proving the potential of the US through continuing the expansion of our retail footprint, supported by a growing eCommerce business, and establishing a US base
    • Continuing to grow the UK footprint, from 18 beautiful sites today 
    • Doubling our eCommerce channel from 16% of revenues today to 32% over the next 5 years.
    • Executing on JV / partnerships in Japan / Korea, and building a brand-first wholesale business 
  • Working alongside the founder and MD to develop the growth plan for the next 5 years, and run a successful fundraising process.
  • Playing a leading role in Cubitts into insight led business, working closely with the Technology Director, and creating a dedicated 
  • Being a true leader across the business (not only the finance function), building a strong culture and effective, motivated team.

What we’re looking for:

  • Proven experience as a FD /CFO or senior finance leader, preferably within retail, e-commerce, or consumer.
  • Track record of successfully managing financial operations in high-growth businesses.
  • Strong strategic and analytical skills with the ability to translate data into actionable insights.
  • Experience in fundraising, having gone through at least one PE / VC investment in a growing company - would do a trusted and inspiring job in representing the company in those discussions. 
  • Familiarity with inventory-heavy businesses, supply chain finance, and margin optimisation.
  • Intimately understands how both technology and insight can really help power a modern, progressive brand and business. 
  • Proven commercial acumen with a focus on balancing creativity and profitability.

About the role:

Requirements

As Finance Director, you will hold:

  • Proven competence/experience of:
    • capital and liquidity positions, and
    • safeguarding arrangements in the UK.
  • Prior professional experience in a similar senior position in a UK-based Payment, E-money, or Credit Institution.
  • Ideally passed the relevant suitability assessment by the FCA as an approved person.
  • 10 years of senior auditing experience, through public accounting/auditing (Big 4 is a plus) and/or industry experience in a senior role.
  • Proven knowledge of auditing standards and procedures, laws, rules and regulations.

Role & Responsibilities

  • Build strong relationships with potential TMT clients and counterparties across a range of Private Equity funds, privately owned businesses and large corporates.

  • Take a lead role in preparing and delivering pitches and proposals.
  • Take a lead role in business development including networking and building relationships and identifying and targeting potential mandates.
  • Responsible for preparing and reviewing transaction documentation and financial models – business plans, management presentations, information memorandum and financial forecasts.

Role & Responsibilities

  • Build strong relationships with potential TMT clients and counterparties across a range of Private Equity funds, privately owned businesses and large corporates.
  • Originate and lead deals, taking key role in executing transactions.
  • Take a lead role in preparing and delivering pitches and proposals.
  • Take a lead role in business development including networking and building relationships and identifying and targeting potential mandates.
  • Responsible for preparing and reviewing transaction documentation and financial models – business plans, management presentations, information memorandum and financial forecasts.
  • Take the lead role in project managing transactions, acting as a primary contact for the client and providing support and advice as required.
  • Manage team members to deliver high quality output as well as ensuring that risk management procedures are adhered to and completed.
  • The role holder will show vision and strategic perspective and will be focused on building the TMT M&A business and the wider TMT business (cross line of service) of the firm.

Skills, Knowledge and Experience

  • Sector experience in UK TMT critical - ideally as an advisor as well as working directly in the TMT sector (note one or other may work also)
  • Sector experience in Global TMT preferred
  • Qualified to ACA or ACCA (or equivalent).
  • Excellent written and verbal communication and presentation skills.
  • Experience of running Corporate Finance lead advisory assignments.
  • High level of commitment to and experience in business development.
  • Existing network of contacts amongst TMT focused intermediaries and/or potential clients.
  • A strong team player who understands the importance of developing a positive team spirit and enjoys working in a collaborative and entrepreneurial environment.
  • Active desire to grow and develop the TMT M&A business.
  • Active desire to grow and develop the UK and Global cross line of service TMT business of the firm.
  • Ability to identify issues through sound analysis and application of commercial acumen in all situations.
  • Ability to express ideas with authority and conviction throughout verbal and written communication.
  • Ambition and keen to “make a difference” to clients and the firm.
  • Ability to develop self and others.
  • Appetite to grow and experience in managing, a team.

As a TMT Sector Focused Corporate Finance Director, you will take responsibility for further developing the TMT M&A service line within Forvis Mazars through the delivery of a high-quality service across a range of clients (large corporates, privately owned businesses and private equity funds) , including advising on disposals, acquisitions, fundraisings and management buyouts.
