This will be a hands-on Industrial Engineer / Manufacturing Engineer to undertake a key role in support of manufacturing operations.
The focus of this position is Industrial Engineering / lean/continuous improvements to achieve increased production output across our mechanical manufacturing operations. There is considerable opportunity for a Manufacturing Engineer with a background in Industrial Engineering / lean / six sigma / continuous improvements to make a real tangible difference within manufacture.
This is a role making positive, hands-on incremental changes through shop floor presence rather than at a strategic, hands-off level.
Key accountabilities will include:
- Utilising your technical acumen to identify areas for change and then manage the implementation of these initiatives through to successful introduction.
- Standardising work instructions, look at ways to reduce change over time on equipment, simplify component assembly
- Identify cost saving opportunities and bottlenecks to reduce cycle time and improve overall effectiveness using Continuous Improvement / Lean Six Sigma tools
- Work with the manufacturing teams to optimise the production lines and simplify assembly and manufacture.
- Identify cost saving opportunities using Lean Six Sigma methodology and tools
- Drive, Support, train on and facilitate Lean Six Sigma activities providing engineering resource for Kaizen and Lean Projects.
To succeed in interesting and varied role you will ideally have:
- Proven Production Engineering / Manufacturing Engineering experience within a mechanical manufacturing or assembly manufacturing environment,
- A working knowledge of lean tools and initiatives such as Six Sigma, Kaizen, DFM, SPC, 5S, FMEA's etc.
- Experience in a highly regulated industry such as medical, automotive, aerospace or similar

The Manufacturing Engineer will develop new and existing production tools and processes to support a right first-time production culture. Supports production issues in a fast-paced environment to ensure business targets are met. Able to manage and lead tasks with minimal support, whilst, collaborating with multiple business functions.
Core Responsibilities
- Designs and develops tooling and processes to support manufacturing of metallic systems
- Creates and maintains manufacturing instructions and standard operation procedures
- Optimise productivity and design for manufacture
- Supports industrialisation of new products using project management skills
- Supports production to optimise tooling for legacy products
- Supports quality with production repair instructions
- Works with and manages suppliers to support production with replacement tooling
- Use RCCA tools to resolve challenging production issues
- Uses project management techniques to drive continuous improvement projects from cradle to grave
- Uses cost data to assess most cost-effective methods/design of products
- Applies multiple continuous improvement tools
- Other responsibilities as assigned
Role Specifications
Skills:
- Highly skilled with CAD, modelling and creating technical drawings
- Able to create manufacturing sequences of multiple level assemblies
- Good organizational skills and the ability to prioritize with changing situations
- Experience using MRP systems
- Strong interpersonal, verbal and written communication skills to drive tasks to completion
- Ability to perform PFMEA assessments and support PPAP deployment
- Assess fabricated and machined components for design for manufacture
- Able to use cost data to assess capital investment
- Experience with welding processes and non-destructive testing desirable
- Strong project management skills using project management tools (MS Project) desirable

Education:
Degree in an engineering/science discipline or equivalent combination of relevant education and work experience that will allow successful performance of job expectation.
Schedules:
37 hours per week, Monday to Friday, office based.
Hours of Work: Your normal working hours will be 37 hours per week, 8.5 hours per day Monday to Thursday and 5 hours on Friday. Lunch breaks are 30 minutes in duration and timings will be advised on your first day.
