Purpose of the Production Operator:

Fantastic manufacturing company based in St Ives are looking for a Production Operative this is a temp to perm position assembling various small to medium products. (NO heavy lifting, however standing all day)

Daily duties for the Production Operator:

  • Working at your own workstation
  • Using a variety of hand held and power tools, nuts, bolts screwdrivers etc
  • Working to standard operating procedures (full training given)
  • High attention to detail
  • Basic mechanical assembly
  • Fast paced environment

The Production operativepost will come with full training, however you will be expected to pass a dexterity test first to assess your skills.

Key roles and responsibilities:

  • Operation of 2 flour mills in a 24 hour/365 days operation.
  • Monitor and adjust wheat cleaning and mill processing equipment.
  • Maintain quality flour production within the specifications.
  • Continually work towards increasing the mill capacity and optimising the yield performance.

  • Complete customer orders as instructed by the Production Schedule
  • Mix solder paste batches to fill customer orders
  • Perform rework as advised by Quality, following standard procedure or special procedure
  • Review Production Schedules and discuss possible adjustments
  • Fill, label, and package solder paste orders as per the customer order
  • Adhere to all requirements for cleanliness and visual control using the 5S system to maintain a well-organised operation with a low risk of contamination
  • Set up, use and maintain a range of manufacturing equipment
  • Maintain packing and filling equipment, including pan packs, scales
  • Accurately record manufacturing details by paper and electronic means
  • Monitor Kanban tip capping levels for each week, plan and refill as needed
  • Plan and manage internal communications and possess an awareness of corporate brand, direction, aims and activities.
  • Undertake training consistent with developing skills relevant to those duties and responsibilities of the role.
  • Be vigilant in matters relating to health and safety within and external to the company’s offices.

  • Operate machinery and equipment to meet production requirements.
  • Perform routine maintenance and troubleshooting on machinery.
  • Ensure strict adherence to health and safety regulations.
  • Collaborate with team members to meet production goals including completing all related documentation accurately and provide suitable handover to on-coming shifts.
  • Participate in continuous improvement initiatives.
  • Report any issues or anomalies in the production process.
  • Setting up batches, checking, weighing and adding materials, and physically moving batch materials where required.
  • Report plant maintenance work requirements to minimise downtime and cost.
  • Keep workstation clean, tidy and organised in line with the 5S approach.

Shift Pattern: Monday - Friday, 8-hour shifts. 6am-2pm, 2pm - 10pm, 10- 6am rotating weekly, for which you will receive a shift premium.

A successful Production Operator/Operative/Team Leader should have:

  • A strong background in a manufacturing process environment
  • Proven experience in a similar role.
  • Strong communication and teamwork skills.
  • A keen eye for detail and a commitment to quality.
  • Computer literate.
  • This role is physically demanding requiring a certain amount of manual handling and ability to carry/lift variety of items.
