Element are looking for Radio Engineers to support significant growth within our Connected Technologies business for our newly opened, state of the art Lab Testing Facility in Surrey Hills near Guildford.


As a senior member of the team, you will be performing a variety of testing assignments. You will ensure timely and accurate test results. You will develop test plans using your strong understanding of Wireless Technologies (Wi-Fi, Bluetooth) and test standards. You will also be required to guide and help junior engineers. Core Responsibilities:


  • Accountable for accurate and timely release of testing data to customers inlcuding creation and sign off of test reports
  • Able to oversee and guide problem solving of complicated technical challenges
  • Provides input and support on business development opportunities with new or existing customers
  • Assists in the professional development of technicians and engineers within the local laboratory
  • Support technical leadership to interpret and apply regulations to a variety of cutting-edge technologies
  • Availability to work a morning and evening shift pattern


Essential skills:


  • Knowledge of ETSI and FCC Radio test standards
  • Strong understanding of Wireless Technologies (Wi-Fi, Bluetooth, ZigBee…)
  • Reasonable Understanding of ISO / IEC 17025 and quality system management
  • In-depth knowledge of testing Consumer Products for global certification requirements
  • Has also demonstrated the ability to develop technical knowledge in their chosen field
  • Working knowledge of laboratory safety


Nice to have:


  • Will have a minimum of 2 years’ pertinent post-degree engineering experience, or advanced academic/professional qualifications
  • Will have a minimum 2 years in an EMC / Radio test laboratory environment
  • Knowledge of UKAS Accreditations and quality systems would be highly beneficial
  • Due to the remote location of our lab, you will need a driving licence and own vehicle (no public transport)

They’re seeking a RF/Microwave Engineer to contribute to the design, simulation, and development of advanced Aerospace Systems.


Responsibilities:

  • Conduct RF and microwave modelling and simulation at both system and component levels using industry-standard tools (e.g., CST Microwave Studio, CARPET).
  • Support the design and performance analysis of radar systems, antennas, and passive microwave components.

Job Purpose

Radios are critical technology for officer communications and safety, enabling both overt and covert operational policing. The Radio Services Senior Manager is accountable for radio devices, infrastructure, and associated services that support mission critical radio communications.

The Radio Services Senior Manager ensures the optimal balance of quality, risk and value for money for Radio Services deployed to the Met. The role holder provides strategic oversight, governance, and decision-making authority for Radio Services suppliers, as well as delivering service-focused input into change initiatives.

Key Role Responsibilities

  • Deliver a highly available and reliable mission critical Radio Services, ensuring operational effectiveness. This includes for specialist radio services such as Marine, Search & Rescue, National Police Air Service as well as for Front Line policing.
  • Manage third-party supplier performance, ensuring adherence to contractual obligations.
  • Ownership of third-party contracts relating to Radio Services.
  • Manage Radio Services budget lines and expenditure. Lead on financial forecasting.
  • Represent Radio Services on governance boards whilst ensuring projects deliver effective changes and solutions for Met policing operations.
  • Lead Met workstream activities for the Emergency Services Network (ESN), engaging with Home Office, partners and third parties.

  • Comprehensive understanding of Radio Communication Technologies (TETRA, Airwave, 4G LTE).
  • Extensive experience in radio communications service delivery, including leadership of incident management, ideally for emergency services organisations.
  • Detailed knowledge of national radio communications legislation and regulatory requirements.
  • Board level influence and senior stakeholder engagement with government departments, including Home Office and Operational Communications in Policing.
  • Demonstrative responsibility for contract and supplier management, including at Account Director level.
  • Technical and commercial experience in radio communications, enabling effective supplier engagement, challenge and support.
  • Experience of budget management and writing business cases for investment.
  • Thorough understanding of Business Continuity Management and operational resilience planning.

Qualifications

  • ITIL V4. (Information Technology Infrastructure Library)

Desirable Criteria:

  • In depth understanding of secure radio systems and integrated communication platforms.
  • Experience managing supplier relationships and contract compliance.
  • Familiarity with Home Office standards and Airwave Code of Practice.
  • An awareness of Radios industry trends and innovations, with particular emphasis on emergency services/policing requirements.
  • Strong interpersonal skills, including collaboration, negotiation, and conflict resolution.
  • Experience of delivering services in multi-supplier outsourced environments.
  • Analytical problem-solving, with the ability to assess the technical landscape and drive effective solutions.
  • Strategic thinking, ensuring alignment between technology delivery and operational policing needs.

Jackson Hogg is delighted to be working with a leading technology business which specialises in the design and manufacture of high?performance RF, microwave, components and systems for defence and space applications. They are now looking to bring an experienced RF Design Engineer to work on their exciting projects.

RF Design Engineer Key Responsibilities:

  • Full responsibility for the design and development of RF/mmW sub-circuits, sub-modules and systems within telecommunications and defence products.
  • Detailed RF specification, design, simulation, and realisation.
  • System line-up analysis.
  • Thermal, MTBF and component derating analysis and reporting in line with company/customer requirements.
  • Checking of design documentation.
  • To proactively participate in design reviews and to initiate design reviews to mitigate risk when appropriate.
  • To maintain an up to date, comprehensive design compliance matrix, referencing robust evidence of compliance data for assigned designs.
  • Problem-solving and fault diagnosis of manufactured products during product introduction – including definition and train-out of diagnostic procedures.

RF Design Engineer Key Requirements:

  • Relevant Degree (or equivalent) preferably RF/Communications Engineering.
  • Experience using RF design tools such as Microwave Office, CST, EMPro and ADS
  • Demonstrable experience of microwave circuit/system design including line-up analyses, tolerance/yield analysis and DFM.
  • Experience in transceiver product design.
