As a Material Handler at FCC Environment, you will play a key role in supporting the smooth and safe running of our site. What will you be doing?
- Carrying out daily start-up inspections and light maintenance on mobile plant machinery, including greasing and clearing debris
- Operating a wheeled loading shovel and other mobile plant equipment safely and efficiently
- Loading third-party vehicles with waste material, ensuring payloads are maximised and vehicles are not damaged
- Maintaining a clean and safe working environment, including general housekeeping duties across the site
- Adhering to traffic management rules and enforcing them for other site users
- Monitoring and reporting fuel usage and stock levels to line management
- Supporting with other duties such as cleaning, grounds maintenance, statutory checks, and inspections
- Covering for colleagues during breaks, holidays, and sickness
- Following all health, safety, and environmental policies and reporting any hazards or incidents
What are we looking for?
- Experience operating wheeled loading shovels and holding a current, valid licence
- Ability to load bulk articulated vehicles with varying materials
- Confidence working and manoeuvring machinery in confined spaces
- Literacy and basic computer skills, as you will complete checklists, reports, and records
- A proactive and team-oriented attitude, with the willingness to get stuck in and help where needed
- Good timekeeping and reliability
- Flexibility to take on a variety of duties as required
- Previous experience in the waste management industry would be beneficial, but is not essential
