Continuous Improvement Lead – The Role:
This hands-on role will be to support the development and deployment of the site’s Continuous Improvement (CI) programme, driving measurable improvements in safety, quality, delivery, cost, and people engagement. The CI Engineer will play a key hands-on role in implementing lean tools and techniques, including TPM, SMED, and automation-focused improvements, while helping to embed CI thinking into daily operations.

Continuous Improvement Lead - Key Responsibilities:
- Lead the rollout of TPM as a structured approach to improving equipment reliability, working closely with Operations, Maintenance, and Engineering teams
- Facilitate and participate in tiered meeting reviews, ensuring effective issue escalation, root cause analysis, and action closure
- Apply Lean and problem-solving techniques (e.g. 5S, visual management, waste elimination, Kaizen) to identify and implement low-cost, high-impact improvements
- Drive SMED (quick changeover) activities to reduce downtime and increase flexibility in moulding operations
- Assist with automation and process improvement initiatives, gathering data and supporting implementation plans
- Gather, analyse, and interpret performance data (e.g., OEE, downtime, scrap, changeover times) to identify improvement opportunities
- Support project delivery teams with data collection, trials, and validation for improvement initiatives
Continuous Improvement Lead - You:
- HNC (or higher) in an engineering discipline
- Formal Lean / CI qualification or training (Green Belt, Black Belt, Lean Practitioner)
- Experience in a manufacturing or moulding environment (rubber, plastics, or similar process-based industry)
- Working knowledge of Lean tools and CI methodologies – e.g. 5S, Kaizen, SMED, OEE, Root Cause Analysis, TPM
- Strong analytical and problem-solving skills with a hands-on, practical approach
- Good communication and facilitation skills; able to work cross-functionally with operations, maintenance, and engineering
- Competent in data analysis, reporting, and presentation (Excel / Power BI desirable)

- Utilise the Project Governance structure tools including Charters, Gantt Charts and Status Reports
WHAT WE NEED FROM OUR CONTINUOUS IMPROVEMENT SPECIALISTS:
- Extensive Lean Manufacturing knowledge with a Green Belt Six Sigma or Business Improvement Techniques equivalent Previous Extrusion Manufacturing experience could be advantageous.
- Ability to work in a diverse, fast paced & dynamic environment with an understanding of Cost & Financial impacts
- Ability to plan and prioritise own workloads in line with the Business needs
- Good communication and interpersonal skills to help support the Management Team
- Flexibility with shift patterns, which could include evenings when needed
