The ideal candidate has a solid background in journalism or editing. He or she will be joining CGTN at a time of major expansion. Successful candidates need to be experienced at handling breaking news. Candidates should have a high tolerance for ambiguity and be independent to thrive in a country where they likely don’t speak the language. Preferred candidates have previously lived and worked abroad.
Key Responsibilities:
- Review scripts for accuracy, style, balance and conformity. Check source material and ensure scripts are ready for air.
- Edit copy to ensure scripts are easy to understand, interesting, creative and compelling. Work toward conversational anchor copy that is accurate and up-to-date.
- Serve as a close advisor on editorial, grammar and news language issues.
- Verify accuracy of all components of programs, including graphics and other on-air editorial elements.
- Correctly format scripts and view video and graphics to ensure scripts and images are in sync.
- Take a proactive and diplomatic role in many aspects of program preparation.
- Collaborate with other team members in order to help determine most creative and editorially accurate solutions.
Minimum Qualifications:
- Undergraduate degree
- 5+ years of experience with strong editing skills which includes accuracy, balance, language and style.
- Native English speaker.
- Proven accomplished writer who thinks in visuals.
- Flexibility to adapt during breaking news, and an ability to adapt to program or anchor style and rewrite when necessary.
- Must be able to produce quality work in a fast-paced and demanding live / 24-hour news environment.
- Previous experience working overseas preferred.
- Extensive knowledge of current events, geopolitics and international relations, especially China and APAC countries.
- Must be able to work irregular hours and work an extended schedule as the news cycle and deadlines require.

You’ll be responsible for:
Content Creation & Execution
- Partner with the Editorial Lead to bring to life innovative, brand-led campaign storytelling across all channels.
- Develop content franchises that can scale across multiple platforms and formats.
- Write creative campaign content, including video/film scripts, printed collateral, out-of-home advertising and ad-hoc content requests.
- Collaborate with the Editorial Lead and Events team to devise content strategies that extend to IRL experiences.
Writing & Editing
- Work closely with the Copy Manager to deliver campaign copy that’s on-brief and on-brand.
- Edit blog content that supports SEO requirements, Oner’s brand pillars and deepens customer connection.
- Write social copy to ensure it’s on brand and reflects the brand’s tone of voice.
- Support messaging for channel owners (eg social, CRM) to ensure cohesion across touchpoints.
Content Quality & Performance
- Act as a brand voice guardian, helping evolve and maintain consistency across all written content.
- Partner with SEO agencies and UX teams to optimise messaging for digital performance and discoverability.
- Work with the Editorial team to proofread and edit all written content to ensure clarity, accuracy and brand alignment.
- Collaborate with Graphic Design to shape content franchise identities and visual cohesion.
- Understand the digital customer journey and know how to write for conversion across key pages (collection pages, landing pages, etc.).
Stakeholder Collaboration & Brand Positioning
- Align content planning with broader brand and business objectives in partnership with the Editorial Lead.
- Work cross-functionally with marketing, creative and performance teams to maximise the reach and impact of content.
You’ll need to have:
- 5-8 years’ proven experience in an editorial, publishing, or creative content role – ideally fashion, activewear or creative agency.
- A strong portfolio that demonstrates expertise in content editing, writing and storytelling.
- Experience collaborating with cross-functional creative teams.
- A strong understanding of brand voice, with the ability to adapt tone and style across different content types and platforms.
- A detail-oriented mindset with strong proofreading and editing skills.
- Ability to manage multiple projects simultaneously and deliver to tight deadlines without compromising quality.
