We are looking for a Search Engine Marketing specialist to join us until the end of 2026 who will drive the performance of SEO (Search Engine Optimisation) and SEM (Search Engine Marketing) across and associated digital properties, meeting established KPIs which directly contribute to the RNLI's objective to save every one.

You'll join our Digital Experience team in creating amazing digital experiences for our users across , sister sites, and drive performance in line with our organisational objectives. This means managing the delivery from start to finish of organic and paid search campaigns, by using an efficient process, and delivering quality & valuable outcomes. Utilising skills across industry research, creating benchmarks, quality assurance, testing, analysis & optimisation.
You'll be proactive in identifying opportunities for improvement in line with our Digital Principles, which include; utilising voice-of-the-user feedback and analytics data, test & learn and collaborative working. A hands-on approach and a specialism for search is key – as is commercial orientation, since you'll be looking to make a real impact on our mission to prevent drowning.
Building strong relationships across organisational teams, you'll work closely with our content and marketing teams and the wider Digital team in particular, acting as a colleague, collaborator and catalyst for innovative work throughout. With one eye on the future, you'll define what search means for the organisation and will work with third party partners in the execution of this strategy and vision.
The experience you'll need- Demonstrable experience in search engine optimisation & paid search campaign management
- Understanding of the key algorithm updates and SEO implications
- Extensive understanding of best practice bid strategies for PPC and paid media to support in campaign optimisations
- Understanding of Search Engines' best practices and industry trends
- Ability to change strategies and adopt new techniques as the search space evolves
- Proficient use of various SEO/SEM tooling including, but not limited to: Screaming Frog, Google Search Console, Google Analytics, Keyword Research Tools, SEMRush or Ahrefs, MOZ, Google Ads, Search Ads 360, Google Grant
- Strong working knowledge and experience with data reporting ad visualisation tools
- Advanced knowledge of Excel to include pivot tables, vlookups, sumifs, and charts
- Ability to communicate with stakeholders effectively and confidently through email, reporting and presentations
- Expert in AI within search, including generative engine optimisation (GEO)

So, what does the role involve?
As a PPC Specialist, you'll play a central role in delivering high-performing campaigns across Google Ads and other paid platforms. This is a hands-on executional role where you'll be responsible for the full campaign lifecycle, from planning, structuring, and launching to day-to-day optimisation and performance analysis.
You'll work closely with account managers and other channel specialists, contributing data-driven strategy and actionable insight to improve ROI. You'll also support wider tracking, reporting, and forecasting efforts, helping evolve how we use data to scale performance.
This role is ideal for someone who thrives on refining performance through data analysis and platform knowledge, particularly across Google Ads (Search, Pmax, Shopping, Display, and YouTube), and Microsoft Ads. You'll have experience building and managing campaigns at scale, working with significant budgets, and optimising for long-term growth and efficiency. Experience with SA360, DV360, or Search365 is a bonus but not required.
What will you be doing?
Campaign planning & optimisation
- Take ownership of Google Ads and Microsoft Ads performance across Search, Shopping, Pmax, Display, and YouTube with a focus on building campaigns at scale and managing large budgets
- Build campaigns from scratch using best-practice structures and naming conventions
- Set up targeting, bidding strategies, ad copy, and extensions based on funnel stage and objectives.
- Continually optimise campaigns using audience insights, search terms, negative keyword curation, and more.
- Define KPIs based on budget, historic performance, and business context
- Forecast campaign performance pre-launch using available data and benchmarks
- Implement testing plans across ad copy, targeting, landing pages, and bid strategies
- Write or manage ad scripts to streamline optimisation or flag performance issues
- Monitor pacing, diagnose underperformance, and act swiftly with corrective steps
- Align campaign strategy with landing pages and conversion goals
Reporting, insights & collaboration
- Support client meetings with performance commentary and clear narrative
- Interpret performance trends and translate them into commercial recommendations
- Contribute insights and learnings to quarterly reviews and wider strategic planning
- Collaborate with SEO and organic teams to align on shared objectives
- Support PPC Executives by reviewing campaign work, giving feedback and sharing knowledge and performance recommendations on their accounts.
- Assist Upperdog with new business activity, completing in depth audits, supporting pitch decks and presenting findings during the pitch process
Tracking & tools
- Support GA4 and GTM tracking setup in collaboration with the wider team
- Audit and QA tracking accuracy, especially during new campaign or site launches
- Maintain Looker Studio dashboards and performance trackers in Google Sheets
- Review attribution models and tag setups to ensure compliance and consistency
- Contribute to the agency's reporting and automation evolution
What skills & experience do you need to have?
- The most important thing is a genuine passion for PPC and results
- Relevant paid search experience in a digital marketing role (ideally at an agency) with proven experience in delivering PPC campaigns and independently managing those campaigns
- Knowledge of Google Analytics4 and Google Ads
- Proficient in keyword research tools and analytics platforms
- Excellent analytical skills with the ability to interpret data and make data-driven decisions

Key Responsibilities:
Paid Media Campaign Management
- Plan, launch, and optimise PPC campaigns across Google Search, Display, YouTube, LinkedIn, and Meta (Facebook/Instagram).
- Own keyword research, audience targeting, bidding strategies, and budget allocation across platforms.
- Set up and manage campaign tracking via GA4, Google Tag Manager, and other relevant tools.
