We're seeking an experienced Quality Engineer to join a well established engineering company, manufacturing highly specialised electromechanical products.
The Role:
Working closely with the HSQE Manager, you'll play a key role in ensuring products meet the highest standards through mechanical and electrical inspection, problem solving, and quality systems development. You'll have ownership within this hands-on role to really make a difference across quality, process improvement, and internal auditing.
Key Responsibilities:
* Conduct mechanical and electrical inspection and testing of components, assemblies, and finished products
* Record and analyse inspection results and manage supplier/customer quality data
* Create and maintain quality documentation: procedures, work instructions, forms, and quality alerts
* Investigate product and process failures using 8D, 5 Whys, and root cause analysis
* Manage customer returns (RMAs), complaints, and corrective actions
* Conduct internal audits on quality management systems and production processes
* Support compliance with ISO 9001:2015 and other relevant quality standards
* Participate in quality improvement projects and continuous improvement initiatives
* Maintain departmental KPIs and contribute to risk assessments and process reviews
Key Skills:
* Mechanical, Electrical, or Electronic Engineering degree or equivalent.
* Strong hands-on experience in testing electromechanical products
* Proficiency in using precision measuring tools and electrical test equipment (e.g., insulation resistance, voltage drop, electrical noise)
* Ability to read and interpret CAD and technical drawings
* Excellent communication, organisation, and documentation skills
* Confident producing quality reports and use of Word, Excel
* Experience of working to ISO 9001:2015
* Experience with 8D, A3, 5Y or similar root cause analysis tools
* Ideally, knowledge of Lean/5S/Visual Management principles
