He's a wheelchair user with a heart as warm as his oven, which he frequently fires up for cooking and baking sessions (bonus if you love cake!). His loyal four-legged sidekickan adorable rescue dogis his daily walking companion and cuddle buddy. Music from the swinging 60s through to the synthy 80s fills his home, and come evening, you'll likely find him immersed in wildlife documentaries with David Attenborough or cheering on the heroes of a good action movie. On the walls? His own paintings and drawings, proudly displayed like badges of brilliance. But the best part? He's looking for support workers who can laugh with him, not just help. I enjoy going out and about every day, but I can get anxious when I don't know what is happening, something annoys me or if I don't understand what is going on. I am lots of fun to be with and want people to work with me who care about me and are dedicated to supporting me to do every day things like eating healthily, keeping fit and learning new skills. I have my own ways of doing things, which the rest of my team will help you to learn, and if you're the right person, we'll get on great!

I love to go to my favourite parks and for long walks in the countryside and going out for cake!

I love a foot massage as it relaxes me and keeps me calm.

I cannot speak but I can tell you what I want to do by using my picture communication system. You need to learn my language, and we can then have some fun. 

I must have a predictable, structured and consistent routine.

As a member of my team, you will be given full training and induction from my Team Leader and you first few shifts will be alongside her so you can get to know me and I can get to know you!

This is a 24-hour service, therefore flexibility is essential. You will be working a range of shifts including nights and some weekends.

This is a hands-on job in which no two days are the same. Your duties will include:

  • Promoting my independence

We are looking for a Support Workers to work with across our Bury St Edmund's & Stowmarket services supporting adults with Acquired Brain Injuries, degenerative conditions and complex health needs

What You’ll Be Doing

Your day-to-day responsibilities as a Support Worker may include assisting service users with personal care, safe lifting and moving, administering medication, meal preparation, and providing general companionship. You’ll work closely with care plans to ensure individuals maintain independence and dignity, providing the physical and emotional support that they might need to achieve their goals.

What We’re Looking For

  • You must be over 18 years old and have the right to work in the UK.
  • Flexibility in your availability, with the ability to travel to different care settings.
  • A good standard of English and the ability to communicate effectively.
  • A clear enhanced DBS, which you can apply for upon registration.
