M-Sport UK is a world‑leading motorsport organisation, internationally recognised for our success across FIA World Rally, Rally‑Raid, and GT racing championships. From our state‑of‑the‑art facility in the heart of Cumbria, we design, build, and run competition‑winning machinery – and we’re looking for passionate, driven individuals to help shape the next generation of performance engines.
We are now seeking an Engine Design Engineer to join our growing Engine Design team. This is a unique opportunity to work at the forefront of motorsport innovation, taking concepts from the drawing board to the race stage.
ROLE AND RESPONSIBILITIESDesign, develop, and optimise high‑performance engine components and systems using 3D CAD.
Create detailed engineering drawings and support manufacturing with technical specifications and tolerance analysis.
Work closely with engineering and engine build team to integrate design with engine performance targets.
Manage projects through the full product lifecycle – from concept and prototype to validation and race deployment.
Perform performing calculations and simulations to support design decisions.
Support in continuous improvement activities and contribute to future engine development strategies.
We’re looking for a self‑motivated team player with a positive and enthusiastic attitude. The ideal candidate will be:
Educated to MEng or BEng degree level in Motorsport, Automotive or Mechanical Engineering, and have good knowledge of 3D CAD, preferably CATIA V5.
A genuine interest in engines and powertrain systems.
Understand the latest manufacturing techniques and materials, and you should have meticulous attention to detail and a practical approach to problem solving.
Excellent interpersonal, relationship and team building skills, and share our determination to deliver the very best results.
Pride yourself on your attention to detail and be capable of delivering a high standard of performance and quality whilst working to strict deadlines in a time‑sensitive environment.
At least 2‑3 years of experience in similar environment working in a competitive industry.
