Job Title: Mechanical Technician ( Engine Strip)
Location: Burton-on-Trent, Staffordshire (Barton under Needwood)
Duration: 3+ months'

Hours: Monday to Thursday - 07:00 to 17:00, Friday 07:00 to 13:00

We are currently recruiting for a Mechanical Technician for an ongoing contract based in the Burton-on-Trent area for an engineering client.

Candidates must have own transport due to site location.

This role would involve the dismantling and re-assembling of engines in line with Manufacturer
standards/warranty.

Key Duties & Responsibilities:
* Be able to strip and replace all the mechanical components to engine as per instruction.
* Collect new parts and distribute to the right engines/machinery.
* Jet wash engines after final checks before they leave site.
* Carry out any other reasonable duty or task as instructed by your manager
* Ensure that waste is disposed of in the correct manner.
* Mentor trainees / apprentices when applicable.
* Adhere to a line managers' written or verbal reasonable instruction.
* Report any near misses.
* Maintain good level of attendance at work.
* Comply with Company and statutory Quality, Health & Safety, Environmental and HR policies and procedures.
* Report any failures / faults identified.

Qualifications & Education:
* NVQ level 3 in motor repairs or equivalent is desirable.

We are currently seeking an Engine Stripper to join our Engine Strip & Transmission team at our Barton Under Needwood site. Based in South Essex, you will be joining a well-known automotive component manufacturing business.
Due to continuous expansion, the company is now looking for an experienced Engine builder with experience in Engine build, ideally from a motorsport background, to join and be part of their manufacturing workshop team.

The successful candidate will be a part of a team in the Engine Build shop, assisting and guiding through all stages of the engine build process.

Essential duties and responsibilities:

  • Strip and inspect engines.
  • Identifying failure causes through analysis and feedback to the Bodyshop lead.
  • Ensure engine build documentation is followed and completed accurately
  • Support following teams with engine pass-off procedures, inspections and installation.
  • Competent in measuring, inspecting, and checking engine components
  • Follow engine build assembly manual and drawings.

This is just a summed-up list of responsibilities and other duties will be required.


Skills and Experience required:

  • Experience Engine Builder
  • Experience with IC Engines
  • Experience in Motorsport, Aerospace or similar
