Job Description

We are seeking an Employment lawyer to assist in providing human resources litigation and legal advice.

This position sits within our dynamic and collaborative Dispute Resolution team based in London. The team handles a wide range of employee relations matters including, drafting and reviewing HR-related commercial agreements, and advising the HR function on developments in case law and legislative changes.

The ideal candidate will be at early stages of their career who has hands-on experience drafting commercial agreements, providing litigation and legal advice to HR on employment related matters. We are looking for someone with strong communication skills, who thrives in a fast-paced but supportive environment and is comfortable working within a small, high-performing team. Experience of/interest in general commercial litigation also welcome.

Key responsibilities:

· Assist in providing litigation and legal advice to HR on employment related matters, including but not limited to:

· Employee relations matters including grievances and disciplinary matters (advice to include for complex cases, the review of questions to be used by the hearing manager or appeal manager, review of evidence and preparation/review of outcome letters) and assisting with internal employee/contractor HRE investigations;

· Assisting the dispute resolution team with the conduct of employment related litigation;

· Assist on advising on issues such as HRE matters arising from Senior Managers & Certification Regime, e.g. queries arising relating to regulatory references following disciplinary outcomes;

· Drafting and reviewing HR related commercial agreements;

· Reviewing standard forms/templates used by HR from a legal perspective as required from time to time;

· Assisting HRE with the updating of HRE policies, where legal advice is required and reviewing internal processes and procedures as requested from time to time

· Drafting IT contractor/other contractor agreements/Agency Workers, reviewing relevant HR related clauses and assisting the GSP team regarding the same

· Advising HRE on new case law or legislative changes and providing training to HR in relation to legal developments; and

· Assisting the Dispute Resolution team generally with pre and actual litigation, contentious regulatory matters and investigations

We are the social care legal team (children) and represent the Bradford Children and Families Trust. We are seeking to appoint four lawyers/senior lawyers to join our busy and highly professional social care legal team practicing in the area of children’s law and safeguarding. This role will allow the right applicant the opportunity to develop legal expertise representing our clients in respect of a diverse range of matters. We are confident that this role will provide the opportunity to make a positive difference working alongside a friendly and supportive team.

The main responsibilities of this role include:

  • Be a qualified solicitor or barrister entitled to practice in England and Wales or fellow of the chartered institute of legal executives.
  • Build upon existing knowledge and experience of social care law from a children law perspective, including but not limited to care proceedings, adoption, private law children proceedings, deprivation of liberty applications, and the impact of the human rights act. Knowledge of court of protection, mental health law, coronial proceedings, and public and regulatory law advice is also welcomed.
  • Manage an active and diverse caseload, prepare for and attend court hearings, advocate on behalf of the client, and participate in case/legal planning meetings, advocate meetings, public law outline meetings, and other related forums.
  • Act under pressure in the face of competing demands arising from emergency and urgent situations, including participation in the duty rota and advising the client at legal gateway and other panel meetings.
  • Work as part of an established team, receive support and supervision while contributing to the delivery of legal services to the client and when cross-working with other relevant agencies.
  • Work alongside the Chief Executive, Human Resources, Environment & Sport, Finance, Public Health, Regeneration & Culture, and the West Yorkshire Pension Fund as may be required and develop an understanding of local government practices.

    Overview

    An exciting opportunity has arisen for a Projects/Construction Lawyer to join a small, high-performing legal team, supporting landmark infrastructure works and Construction across the UK.

    This hands-on role will see you working closely with project leadership to manage risk, draft and negotiate key contracts, and provide proactive advice that directly supports commercial objectives. You will play a vital part in safeguarding project outcomes and resolving disputes, while contributing to governance, training, and best-practice sharing.

    Responsibilities
    • Support landmark infrastructure works and construction across the UK with a project-focused approach.
    • Work with project leadership to manage risk and draft/negotiates key contracts (NEC desirable).
    • Provide proactive legal advice to support commercial objectives and project governance.
    • Contribute to governance, training, and sharing best practices; assist in dispute resolution as needed.
    Qualifications
    • 3PQE+ (England & Wales, or another common law jurisdiction)
    • Experience in construction/projects law; NEC experience desirable
    • Strong commercial awareness, communication, and problem-solving skills
    • Flexible, collaborative approach; ability to thrive in a fast-paced, international environment

    Location: London-based (flexible) , with regular site presence (West London)
