**Your Career**
Reporting to the Treasury Manager, Investments this role will be part of a world-class team helping drive results within the Corporate Treasury function. The Treasury team is responsible for investment oversight and risk management of Palo Alto Networks' multi-billion dollar cash investment portfolio. The portfolio is invested in high-quality fixed income securities including money market funds, commercial paper, U.S. government and agency securities, corporate debt securities, and asset-backed securities.
**Your Impact**
As Treasury Manager, Investments, the principal responsibility is to ensure investments adhere to policy targets and guidelines and achieve the corporate investment goals of capital preservation, liquidity, and income generation. The ideal candidate will make a meaningful impact by employing quantitative analysis and a multi-disciplinary skill set to optimize investment portfolio returns within the investment policy parameters. You will collaborate with a team of fixed income portfolio managers to develop and implement investment strategies for a short-duration fixed income portfolio. This includes building portfolio construction models and executing self-directed rebalancing of US Treasury and investment-grade credit portfolios.
A key aspect of this role is ensuring portfolio activities align with investment policy parameters and the portfolio benchmark, maintaining compliance with all investment policy requirements. You will need to understand how macroeconomic factors, corporate cash flow, yield objectives, accounting rules, and tax considerations influence investment decisions.
This role also requires strong collaboration with key business partners, including Accounting, FP&A, Legal, and Tax, on all investment -related matters. You will develop and maintain a network within the institutional investment community and with corporate cash peers to stay informed of current investment themes and best practices. Additionally, you will contribute to various ad-hoc investment and Treasury related projects.
**Your Experience**
+ 8+ years in corporate treasury or fixed income portfolio management and analysis, with trading experience being a plus. 6+ years of experience with an advanced degree.
+ Bachelor's Degree in Finance, Business Administration, Economics, or Accounting required; MBA or Masters preferred.
+ Chartered Financial Analyst (CFA) designation or progress toward completion is highly desired.
+ Strong understanding of fixed income and economic markets.
+ Ability to apply fixed income investing knowledge and a growth mindset to manage a global corporate cash portfolio.
+ Proficient in applying quantitative techniques to analyze portfolio risk and macroeconomic conditions.
+ Excellent ability to communicate complex ideas clearly and impactfully to influence investment decisions.

About the Team

The Debt & Reserves Management (DRM) team manages key financial assets and liabilities on the public sector balance sheet – using analysis, oversight and our stakeholder links to Bank of England, the Debt Management Office, National Savings & Investments and the Royal Mint.


This role is part of the Retail Debt and Cash Issuance (RDCI) branch in DRM, a friendly, supportive and dynamic team leading on a wide ranging and high-profile set of policy issues, with significant engagement from ministers and Special Advisers. The branch is responsible for developing strategy and legislation related to banknote and coins; working closely with the Bank of England and the Royal Mint; sponsorship, policy and spending for National Savings and Investments (NS&I).


About the Job

As NS&I’s sponsor and spending team, DRM supports NS&I in developing the strategic, operational, and financial framework it operates under. This covers a range of areas such as supporting NS&I in developing its strategy to raise finance, advising Ministers on NS&I’s strategic framework, and ensuring NS&I is adequately funded to deliver its objectives, including delivery of its major transformation programme. Delivery of this programme makes up a significant portion of NS&I’s spending review settlement, and scrutinising programme-related spending will be a key area of focus for the post-holder. DRM is also responsible for advising Ministers on any wider policy or operational measures that impact NS&I’s performance and debt-raising role.


In this role, you will:

·   Support NS&I through spending processes, such as Main and Supplementary Estimates. This will involve independently liaising with stakeholders in NS&I’s Finance team and across HM Treasury to ensure delivery is smooth and in line with government priorities.

·   Oversee spending on NS&I’s Transformation Programme to ensure compliance with HM Treasury spend controls and the SR25 settlement. This includes keeping track of NS&I’s in-year financial position and advising seniors and ministers on any emerging risks, such as underspends. There will be scope to consider innovative approaches to managing any risks and increasing the effectiveness of spending controls.

·   Scrutinise in-year expenditure of NS&I’s capital and resource budgets. This includes evaluating business cases and spending proposals to put forward recommendations based on a deep understanding of NS&I’s financial position. This will require close collaboration with seniors in NS&I and teams across HM Treasury to evaluate the impact of spending decisions and balance HMT and NS&I’s priorities, challenging expenditure where necessary.

·   Lead policy development relating to NS&I’s short and long-term strategy. The post-holder will advise the EST on NS&I’s annual service delivery metrics to ensure they are sufficiently stretching and balance outcomes for the consumer, taxpayer and customer. The post holder will also need to work closely with NS&I’s Strategy Directorate to influence the development of NS&I’s medium and long-term strategy to ensure alignment with government and organisational priorities and advise EST on approving this strategy ahead of March 2026.

·   Lead appointments to NS&I’s Board and the relationship with NS&I’s People Directorate. This involves advising EST and seniors on all matters relating to NS&I’s workforce and people strategy, such as annual pay remit increases. The post holder will also need to work closely with seniors across NS&I and HMT to lead and advise ministers on recruitment campaigns to appoint additional non-executive directors to NS&I’s board.

You will be able to evaluate different and sometimes competing evidence sources to come to a conclusion and advise senior partners. Collaborate effectively with a range of stakeholders, including other organisations and prioritise and progress varied pieces of work in a timely and effective way.

**The Team:**
Managing private equity funds is an important component of Neuberger Berman's business strategy. Neuberger Berman is a leading and growing investor in private markets, managing c. $135 billion of client commitments in active vehicles as of December 31, 2024. NB Private Equity has been an active and successful private equity investor since 1987.
**The Role:**
The successful candidate will support the team in the due diligence analysis of co-investments in single portfolio companies as well as primary fund investments:
+ Co-Investments: Invests directly into attractive deals alongside premier private equity firms in their core areas of expertise. Focuses on building high-quality, diversified portfolios of strategic co- investments primarily in buyouts and growth financings on a global basis and across multiple industries.
+ Primary Fund Investments: Makes primary commitments to premier private equity funds. Creates diversified portfolios of private equity funds on a global basis and within multiple asset classes, including buyout, growth equity, venture capital and distressed / special situation investments.
We are seeking a driven individual with four years of relevant experience in Investment Banking, Corporate Finance or Private Equity, who can add value across a broad range of private equity investing activities. This is an excellent opportunity for an enthusiastic professional to build upon their experience in a demanding but rewarding environment.
**Primary Responsibilities:**
+ Take ownership of evaluating and assessing a broad spectrum of companies across various industries to identify and recommend compelling investment opportunities.
+ Lead the development and oversight of in-depth financial models to assess valuations of private companies, ensuring accuracy and providing actionable insights.
+ Draft and review due diligence materials and investment committee memos, with the ability to articulate key findings and recommendations.
+ Conduct and guide detailed due diligence and analysis on private equity funds and portfolio company opportunities, including industry, company, and manager research.
+ Build and maintain strong relationships with partners and other investment professionals of private equity firms, acting as a key point of contact for specific engagements.
+ Monitor and assist in managing our investment portfolio through attendance at annual meetings of private equity firms and investor meetings for individual portfolio companies.
+ Assist in the marketing and commercial efforts involving the firm's private equity products.
+ Manage a wide range of special projects, including but not limited to product development, asset allocation analysis, and customized investment and reporting solutions for clients.
+ Collaborate with colleagues across the firm to gather information necessary to make investment decisions within the various strategies.
**Qualifications Needed:**
+ Four years of relevant experience in Investment Banking, Corporate Finance, or Private Equity.
+ Exceptional academic credentials; a degree in finance, business, or a related field is preferred.
+ Strong analytical and quantitative skills with substantial expertise in financial modeling and valuation.
+ Results-oriented and proactive, with a creative approach to problem-solving.
+ Excellent communication skills, both written and verbal, with the ability to present complex ideas effectively.
+ Ability to successfully manage multiple priorities with strong attention to detail.
+ Fluency in additional European languages is a plus.
