Your Purpose:

  • Own and direct teams who undertake technical design work following relevant design standards and codes, and to high-quality levels.
  • Defining briefs, scopes of work, and input into bid proposals.
  • Successfully manage time and budgets to key project milestones and programmes.
  • Work closely with teams in the UK and overseas to deliver integrated design solutions.
  • Setting quality assurance standards in design.
  • Grow, develop and manage heavy civil engineering capability within the practice.


What you can bring:
  • Chartered Civil / Structural Engineer or similar.
  • Experience in owning design delivery, including multidisciplinary design.
  • Comprehensive knowledge in design and analysis of heavy civil engineering structures, including reinforced concrete and/or steel with experience across all design phases and construction. Familiarity with current design standards and working practices (British Standards and possibly American codes).

What will you be responsible for?

As project logistics manager for HMP Glasgow you will take on a key position overseeing  logistics programmes and lifting operations in line with project  construction programme.

Your day to day will include, but not be limited to:

  • Management of logistics plan concerning off site manufactured products, general deliveries of plant and material to site and stores.
  • Working closely with the project team to effectively schedule and manage delivery of pre cast modules  to site
  • Managing movement of plant and materials to site, ensuring safe and efficient movement of assets to  and around site.
  • Check and sign off lifting plans for crane operation
  • Ensuring that deliveries or major movements to and around site are compliant with the project environmental plan, managing traffic plans to ensure that movement of large plant is conducted safely and does not impact  businesses and the public on site perimeter.
  • Arranging appropriate temporary access for stakeholders.
  • Utilise the delivery management systems to maximise efficiencies., provide logistics instruction to all project suppliers and Sub-Contractors.
  • Oversee the inspection procedures for vehicles, where necessary, i.e., FORS / CLOCS. scheme.
  • Ensure the team are briefed on the requirements, and carry-out surveillances to ensure the process is n carried out and records are maintained. (Noting the inspections themselves will be carried-out by the 
    gate-person.)
  • Create appropriate logistics awareness training and deliver to site workforce

  • Have experience managing high volume delivery schedules, stores and supply chain on major construction  schemes
  • You hold Relevant construction / engineering qualification (HND, SVQ or equivalent) 
  • Hold CPCS or NPORS Appointed Person certification 
  • Hold SMSTS 5 Day Cert, First Aid Cert & CSCS Card
  • Have full UK Driving License

The Pre-Construction Buildability – Project Engineer role - Methods Manager Role

Reporting to the Logistics Manager, the Project Engineer will focuses on developing practical, efficient, and safe construction methods. As a growing discipline in the UK, it offers strong progression opportunities.

You'll be responsible for providing support to the ‘methods' team. In particular:

Review and input to the constructability of the permanent design.

Draw up the structural works execution strategy.

Draw up a preparation schedule for Methods and Plant.

Participate in technical/price studies for different construction solutions for the structure.

Set the execution methods (methods sequencing, operating procedures, phasing, cycles) in line with the Programme and the Quality-Safety-Environment rules.

Carry out studies regarding site installations and the lifting equipment working closely with the lifting team.

Determine all plant resources needed for steelwork erection, cladding installation, M&E Logistical movements and safety.

Provide monitoring and inspection of manufacturers of special plant/equipment: consultation, ordering, checking the calculation notes and fabrication drawings, acceptance in factory, dummy assembly, packaging.

Manage the Methods technicians/engineers and draughtsperson.

Monitor studies of technical risks (Methods) of the project.

Your profile

Engineering Degree qualified and preferably have a construction engineering industry related Professional membership (e.g ICE, IStructE, MCIOB, etc)

Experience of working on large construction projects £100mil +

Knowledge of the full Microsoft office suite

Autocad skills to review or sketch designs preferred – but ability to pick up software with training quickly.

Coordination and negotiation skills

Technical knowledge and commercially minded

Methodical, have authority, tenacious and have a sense of responsibility.
